On October 31, discussion of the book “Stories” by outstanding writer, playwright Jalil Mammadguluzadeh was held in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Library named after Mammad Said Ordubadi.
Opening the event, the director of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Library named after Mammad Said Ordubadi, PhD on History Aytekin Gahramanova said that Jalil Mammadguluzadeh’s works were very critical for extremist thoughts, ignorance, illiteracy and religious prejudices for his time.
In her speech, she noted that the “Sharqi– Rus” newspaper and its editor M.Shahtakhtli played an important role in the development of Jalil Mammadguluzadeh as a writer and journalist. The “Postbox” written in 1903, was published in “Sharqi– Rus” newspaper in 1904. Starting the publication of “Molla Nasreddin” magazine, Jalil Mammadguluzadeh laid the foundations of satirical journalism in Azerbaijan as well as in the Middle East and became known as “Molla Nasreddin”.
It was noted that Jalil Mammadguluzade’s publicity, prose and drama works had enriched the Azerbaijani literature not only in terms of content, but also in form.
Head of the hall Vasila Jafarova made a speech on the topic “Life and creativity of Jalil Mammadguluzadeh”, head of nakhchivan studies fund and exchange department Irada Mammadova on the topic “J.Mammadguluzadeh is the master of stories”.
The speeches gave detailed information about the life, creativity, stories of Mirza Jalil. Detailed information was given about Jalil Mammadguluzadeh’s “Postbox”, “Master Zeynal”, “Freedom in Iran”, “Gurbanali bey” (nobleman), “Lamb” and “Bearded child” stories. At the end of the event there was a slide show on the electronic board and video films of “Bearded child”, “Lamb”, “Maybe back” were demonstrated.
At the end of the event, the exhibition of “Books that are necessary to read” was held.
