Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Library named after Mammad Said Ordubadi carries out purposeful activities to fulfill the tasks arising from the Order of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated August 28, 2017. The discussion of “Kitabi-Dede Gorgud” included in the list of “Books Necessary for Reading” approved by that Order was held at State Veterinary Service of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
Abil Abilov, the Head of State Veterinary Service, Aytekin Gahramanova, the director of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Library named after Mammad Said Ordubadi, PhD in history, Yegana Rustamova, the Head of Mass Work department of the library, Yusif Safarov, the professor of Nakhchivan Teachers Institute, Doctor of philological sciences, Docent Asaf Orujov, PhD in history, the head of Ethnography Department of ANAS Nakhchivan Branch gave speeches at the event.
The speeches highlighted the work done in the autonomous republic to properly formulate the outlook of the younger generation and bring up them in the patriotic spirit, as well as the importance of the Order “On Books Necessary for Reading”.
It was noticed that one of the books included in that list is “Kitabi-Dede Gorgud”, one and the first of the great art samples which brings together the greate and magnificent history of not only Azerbaijan but also all Turkish world. This treasury of words is a chronicle of the turkic people, an encyclopedia of life, an inscription written in Azerbaijani and belongs to Azerbaijanis.
It was noted that “Kitabi-Dede Gorgud” is an epic of heroism, bravery, courage, friendship and unity, and a great historical monument rich in moral, national and spiritual values such as honor, self-esteem and dignity, and it plays an important role in the upbringing of the younger generation. In the epic, from the chief commander to the all heroes are shown to be ready to die for their native land.
It was stressed that the stories described in the parts of “Kitabi-Dede Gorgud” were related to the southern outskirts of the Caucasus and the entire territory of Azerbaijan. The stories take place in different places, such as Kur-Araz plain, Sharur town, Alinjagala reserves, Deresham, Aghjagala, Surmeli and Aghgaya. These places are also located in Nakhchivan, Araz, Zangilan, Goycha and other regions.
