On December 16, Nakhchivan State Musical Drama Theater named after J.Mammadguluzade hosted a concert of the Ancient Music Instruments Ensemble of the Nakhchivan State Philharmonic.
In the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, in recent years, significant work has been done to protect, study and promote our national cultural heritage. The Decree, dated February 7, 2009, "On Holding Days of Folk Art in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic", signed by Mr. Vasif Talibov, the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, states that today there is a serious need to introduce our wide-ranging ancient musical instruments to the younger generation and to the international community. Ganj, ud, tabil, tanbur, ganun, gopuz, rubab, tulum, karanay, ney, zurna, balaban and other musical instruments existed in the past. Our ancient musical instruments are restored today and are again included in the musical instruments. Restoration of such musical instruments today is based on the love to our nation's historical past, national cultural heritage. Each of our ancient musical instruments draws attention with its uniqueness. In addition to classical mughams and dances it is possible to play samples of world music on these musical instruments. A number of musical instruments are being taught today at educational institutions. Creating ensembles in our country and our autonomous republic, which consists of ancient musical instruments, is one of the main issues of our musical culture. Today, there is "An ensemble of ancient musical instruments" at the Nakhchivan Music College. The performances of this collective of the young are always welcomed by people. The music and musical instruments of the Azerbaijani people have historically been developed from simple to complex and distinguished by its unique national character. Establishment of a workshop for the restoration and production of ancient musical instruments in our Autonomous Republic is also a sign of the attention and care shown to this area. Of course, some of our ancient musical instruments have been forgotten in history. But some of them have been restored today.
Last Saturday's concert attracted attention as a wonderful event dedicated to the promotion of our ancient musical instruments. The performance of jang, rud, rubab, chor, ney, barbat, gopuz that we don't often see in concerts and other ancient musical instruments as a music ensemble and the national clothes of musicians on the stage is so interesting.
