A roundtable talk on "Islamic Culture and National Values" under the motto "Nakhchivan is the capital of Islamic culture" was held at Julfa City Children's Music School on January 16.
Parvin Hasanov, Head of the Culture and Tourism Department of the Julfa Region, made an opening speech at the round table talk organized by Scientific and Methodological Center for Culture of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and Culture and Tourism Department of the Julfa Region and spoke about the importance of being the capital of Islamic Culture of Nakhchivan for 2018. It was stressed that being the capital of Islamic Culture of Nakhchivan for 2018 is proud for every citizen of autonomous republic and we acknowledged it as a significant event.
There are some monuments reflect the Islamic culture in Julfa and these monuments have been restored thanks to the state care. Along with the mosques in the region, the Gulustan Tomb, the Khanagah Complex, Arafsa and Almammad sacred places are known as religious and cultural monuments of Islamic Culture.
Sayyar Mammadov, the director of the Scientific and Methodological Center for Culture of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, said that as a result of the decision of the sixth conference of culture ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Baku in October 2009, Nakhchivan became the capital of Islamic Culture for 2018. According to the Order signed by Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Azerbaijan Republic, on June 2, 2016, in the first meeting of the Organizing Committee, was established as a result of the declaration of Nakhchivan as the Capital of Islamic Culture for 2018, the issues of preparations and the direction of the work to be done were discussed on November 25, 2016. The Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic signed an order on designing the "logo of the capital of Islamic Culture-Nakhchivan-2018" on January 23, 2017. According to the order, the creative competition was announced for designing the logo of Nakhchivan, the capital of Islamic culture for 2018.
It was emphasized that the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and the Artists' Union set the regulations of the competition and its logo was chosen by the jury. The creative, artists, architects and students living both in and out of Nakhchivan participated in the competition, and about 40 participants presented over 70 logos. During the evaluation, along with the creative approach, the effectiveness of the work and its easy perception, it was preferred to reflect the Nakhchivan's Turkish-Islamic culture, as well as its ancient history and modernity.
The most proper one for "Nakhchivan - Capital of Islamic Culture - 2018" is the logotype by Tapdig Hamzayev, a member of the Painters' Union of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. It reflects belonging Nakhchivan to both Turkish and Islamic culture and Nakhchivan's ancient and modern history.
The description of Khachadagh indicates that Nakhchivan has an ancient history and Nakhchivan people are proud. Describing the flames in the mountain as a symbol of life also shows that Azerbaijan is the "Land of Fire." The word "God" written in the flames is a symbol of Islam and indicates that Nakhchivan is a sacred land. The half-moon, the flag on it, and the star are the expression of our statehood.
Then discussions were held about the topic. During the discussions, it was said that Nakhchivan, an ancient Oghuz land, reflected Islamic culture throughout its history by its religious and cultural monuments, and the vast majority of traditions and national values belonging to this ancient land was the same elements of Islamic culture. It was emphasized that this factor, in turn, played an important role in forming and transmitting people's religious, moral and national-cultural lifestyle from generation to generation.
