An excursion of a group of active young people to the Memorial Museum was organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on January 18.
Kenan Tagizade, the chief advisor on the creative youth of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, made an opening speech and said that the people of Azerbaijan always remember and respect the memory of their heroes. There are tragedies in the history of our people that, as time passes, they are not forgotten, live in our hearts and become the symbols of freedom. The purpose of this excursion to the Memorial Museum on the eve of the 20th January tragedy is to acquaint young people with the heroic history of our people. January 20 is a symbol of pride in our nation's history. It shows that the blood of our martyrs was not for nothing and at the expense of these bloodsheds the foundation of our independence and statehood was laid. Future generations will also remember their heroism with respect.
Then, Sayyar Mammadov, director of the Scientific and Methodological Center for Culture, spoke to young people on "Self-Defense of Nakhchivan". He noted that today the logistical support of the Detached Combined Arms Army is constantly strengthened, the combat capability of the personnel, moral and psychological training is improved. During the last 25 years purposeful measures have been taken to secure the protection of the autonomous republic, 214 different military objects have been put into operation. The launch of a new Training Center on the jubilee day is a continuation of the work done in the field of army building. Today, the Detached Combined Arms Army has the capability to carry out any combat missions.
The military parade devoted to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the first national military unity in Nakhchivan on the Independence Day on October 18, 2017 once again demonstrated the strength and power of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in the autonomous republic.
During the excursion it was told that the museum was established in 1997 by the order of the Chairman of Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The name of the museum was the Museum of Martyrs till 2000. On August 8, 2000, the museum was renamed as the Memorial Museum. At present there are more than 2000 exhibits in the museum. About 350 of them are exhibited. The exposition of the museum is chronological. It was noted that the first legal assessment to the genocides and the national confrontations committed in Azerbaijan was assured by national leader Heydar Aliyev.
It was stressed that the memory of the sons of the Motherland, who passed away for the sake of free and sovereign existence of the future generation, is not forgotten and their memory is always honored.
Documents and historical exhibits reflecting the struggle of our people for the freedom and independence of our lands have attracted the young.
The young were informed about the 20 January tragedy, which is our heroic and proud history. It was noted that the political-legal assessment of January 20 tragedy is also connected with the name of the great leader Heydar Aliyev.
The young were also informed about the exhibits about the struggle of the sons of Motherland with the Armenian invaders in the battles on the border of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
