On January 19, the event dedicated to January 20 tragedy was held by the organization of Nakhchivan City Culture and Tourism Department and Youth Union of the department at Nakhchivan State Film Fund.
The director of the Nakhchivan State Film Fund Mirakif Seyidov opened the event and mentioned that January 20 incidents introduced Azerbaijan to the whole world as strong-willed nation and capable of living independently. January 20 is an unforgettable page of Azerbaijan people fighting for her independence.
These incidents have become the heroism symbol of our people. There are such honorable days in the modern history of Azerbaijan that reflect the struggle of our people for national ideals, the will to overcome all the difficulties in this way. January 20 is an important stage in the struggle of independence of our people.
Then the chairman of the Department of Youth Union of Nakhchivan City Culture and Tourism Department Aysama Babayeva made a speech stating that January 20 is the heroism chronicle of in the history of our people. Azerbaijani people always remember and deeply respect the memory of their sons. Coming generations will also remember the memory of our martyrs who died for the bright future of our nation.
The reporter also spoke about the causes of committing January 20 tragedy, the historical services of our great leader Heydar Aliyev in the legal and political assessment of this tragedy, the struggle of the Azerbaijani people, the solid protection of our borders by the powerful army.
It was emphasized that this year is the 28th anniversary of January 20 tragedy. A number of events, meetings are held, interactive connections are created between secondary schools and museums, lessons are conducted dedicated to January 20 tragedy, performances are shown, films are demonstrated.
The event participants viewed the exhibition of the paintings of children’s music, art and artistic craftsmanship schools. The incidents reflecting January 20 in the struggle for independence of our people are described through the eyes of children.
At the end “Baku 1990” documentary film dealing with January 20 tragedy was demonstrated.
