“Euronews” released a report on the Momine Khatun Mausoleum

The report says that it is time to look up at an impressive structure took in Azerbaijan this week. It is an example of Nakhchivan architecture - the Momine Khatun Mausoleum. It was built in 1186 in honour of Momine Khatun who played an important role in local political life. Architect Ajami Nakhchivani created various decorated facets and his masterpiece became an architectural treasure.

"Today 26 meters high, the mausoleum was originally 9 meters higher, crowned with a dome shaped as a tent," explained reporter Galina Polonskaya, on her visit to the picturesque region and she said Momine Khatun gave wise advice to her husband, the powerful local ruler Shamsaddin Eldaniz. After her death, he ordered the construction of the monument. But he, too, soon passed away and it was their son who made sure that the construction was finished. In total, it took 11 years.

The Salt Museum will play an important role in promoting Nakhchivan

The Salt Museum was put into operation in Nakhchivan with the participation of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. This museum created at the “Duzdagh” hotel according to the Decree of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis “On establishment of the Nakhchivan Salt Museum” dated September 12, 2017 attract attention by its many important aspects.

Appreciating the establishment of Nakhchivan Salt Museum as an important event on April 25, the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis congratulated the participants and future visitors on this occasion and said: “The history of Nakhchivan is connected with the history of extraction of Nakhchivan salt. In order to study Nakhchivan’s history, firstly, we need to learn the history of Nakhchivan salt. Nakhchivan salt, Duzdagh has been great importance in the formation of Nakhchivan as a city. 5-7 thousand years ago, the precious metals and money were not used in circulation. Taking into account that salt was the only means of circulation at that time, Nakhchivan was built in those areas where the salt was extracted. This allows the conclusion that the formation of the city of Nakhchivan began with the first extract of salt 5-7 thousand years ago in Nakhchivan. Historians from different countries also informed about this.”

The orchestra has started a tour to Nakhchivan

The staff of the Bursa Regional State Symphonic Orchestra is on tour in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The guests first laid flowers at the monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev in the main square of Nakhchivan and visited the Heydar Aliyev Museum. The Turkish guests were informed about the activities carried out in the direction of promoting the activities of the genius personality, scientific theoretical heritage in the museum.

Then the orchestra staff also got acquainted with "Khan Palace" State Historical-Architectural, Momuna Khatin and in the Open Air Museum Complex. Stone monuments displayed in the open air aroused great interest. During the acquaintance with Momuna khatin tomb, the magnificent monument of Azerbaijan national architecture, one of the pearls of Eastern architecture, the guests were informed that the monument was built in 1186 and was erected by the famous architect Ajami Abubakr Nakhchivani.

While visiting the Khan Palace, the guests were informed that this museum was created considering the role of the Nakhchivan khanate in our national statehood and the maintenance of its territory in Azerbaijan.

Opening ceremony of “Nakhchivan-2018” International Chess Festival held

On May 1, opening ceremony of “Nakhchivan-2018” International Chess Festival dedicated to the 95^th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev was held at Nakhchivan State Musical Drama Theatre.

First, the festival participants put fresh flowers in front of the national leader’s monument erected in the main square of the city and visited Heydar Aliyev Museum.

The chairman of Chess Federation of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vugar Safarov congratulated the event participants on the occasion of opening “Nakhchivan-2018” International Chess Festival, welcomed chess players and guests. He said that chess has ancient history in Azerbaijan. However, the development of chess as an intellectual sport type was achieved during the rule of national leader Heydar Aliyev in our country, and in the 70s of the last century the Azerbaijani chess school was formed. After our country gaining its independence, chess schools were created meeting the modern requirements, material and technical and training base was established for the development of chess. The development of chess shows the overall intellectual potential of each country and nation. It is pleasant to note that the Republic of Azerbaijan is one of the countries where the chess is protected at the state level. As President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev said: "Development of chess is a state policy in Azerbaijan today".
