Nakhchivan left rich impressions on European guests

As we reported earlier, ambassadors of European countries to Azerbaijan and other guests visited the autonomous republic to attend the "European days" held in Nakhchivan on September 21-23. Within the framework of the visit, the European guests visited the historical monuments and cultural establishments of Nakhchivan and got acquainted with the economic, educational, tourism and cultural spheres of the autonomous republic. The diplomats shared their impressions on Nakhchivan with the employees of the "Sharg gapisi" newspaper.

Kestutis Yankauskas - Head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan: - This is my third visit to Nakhchivan. Your region is very beautiful. Especially the cleanliness and hospitality here draws people. During my previous visits I had an opportunity to take a walk in Nakhchivan, I can say that, the high mountains and mineral waters here are very attractive to me, as a Lithuanian. I think that opportunities to increase the number of tourists to your country, including the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, are vast. Therefore, efforts should be made to increase the number of European tourists traveling to the Republic of Azerbaijan, including the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in the upcoming period, tourist agencies should work in this direction, and we should know each other more closely. I think that intense tourism relations will bring us closer.

We were very pleased with our meetings here. We witnessed a creative approach to the work that people have been doing at meetings with both business and education. At the press conference, we were asked many interesting questions. At the school named after Heydar Aliyev, Nakhchivan State and "Nakhchivan" universities, we witnessed the activeness of pupils and students. It's great not only for me, but for all European ambassadors too. The event held in Nakhchivan to get acquainted with people interested in studying in Europe and interested in European Union-supported education and small business projects has been a great opportunity for both people living here and for us. The interest of thousands of people to the "European town" organized in Nakhchivangala really delighted us. In terms of acquaintance with other cultures and making new friends it has been unforgettable day. Indeed, we return with a deep impression from this land.

The opening ceremony of the "European town" was held at the Historical-Architectural Museum Complex "Nakhchivangala" on September 23.

Initially, the anthems of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the European Union were sounded.

European ambassadors to Azerbaijan welcomed the festival participants.

Minister of Youth and Sport of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Azad Jabbarov and Head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan Kestutis Yankauskas gave opening speeches.

Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov attended the event and reviewed the exhibitions.

Natural healing sources play an important role in promoting the autonomous republic as a treatment tourism destination

In the modern world, tourism is one of the most attractive areas for its course of development and profitability. Attraction of more tourists on the basis of assessment and usage of existing potential is one of the main goals of tourism. Therefore, the use of different tourism resources is of great importance to all countries at the moment. In recent years, the growth of treatment tourism in the world has created new opportunities for the development of this sphere. Because health is the greatest blessing for people and it becomes more urgent day by day. The World Tourism Organization's annual report shows an increase in the number of people who benefit from this type of tourism. At present, the share of medical and health tourism worldwide has reached 14% of the total tourism turnover.

It should be noted that the treatment tourism resources are not typical for every tourist destination. It is not possible to develop this kind of tourism everywhere because natural factors play a great role here. However, treatment tourism is a major type of tourism for countries or regions that have the potential and are able to effectively use this potential. From this point of view, Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, which is an integral part of Azerbaijan, is distinguished for its rich medical tourism opportunities.

“National clothes” festival held in Nakhchivan

On September 8, “National clothes” festival was held at “Nakhchivangala” Historical-Architectural Museum Complex.

The announcers of the event noted that clothes reflect the culture and identity of each nation. Our ancestors began to be engaged in the tradition of sewing, knitting of clothes in Bronze Age which is an important branch of decorative-applied art, created spinning, weaving and embroidery works in archaic form, unique art samples. According to the information given by Arab authors of 10th century, Azerbaijani artisans produced wool, cotton, silk fabrics and clothes for sale. Chokha made in Nakhchivan gained a reputation for far beyond the borders of Azerbaijan among these clothes. Famous Turkish traveller Ovliya Chalabi noted that high-quality spinning fabrics were manufactured in Nakhchivan, and sold to far and near abroad.

Participants of international conference on "Nakhchivan: Capital of Islamic Culture" closely familiarized with Turkish-Islamic cultural monuments in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic

The plenary session of the international conference "Nakhchivan: Capital of Islamic Culture" was held at “Nakhchivan” University on September 7. The event continued with sectional meetings. On September 8, the conference ended its work with the final meeting at Nakhchivan Branch of ANAS. The information related to the activity of the conference sessions held in accordance with the Action Plan of the Knowledge Foundation under the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic was in the spotlight, as well as the importance of the conference. Then the account of department chiefs was heard.

The conference participants got closely acquainted with the monuments of Turkic-Islamic culture in the territory of the autonomous republic. At first, the guests visited "Khan Palace" State Historical-Architectural Museum, Momuna Khatin and the Museum in the Open Air Complex. They were informed that Khan Palace was built by Kalbali Khan Kangarli, the father of Ehsan Khan in the 1760s. Built in the style of eastern architecture, this palace is made up of three floors and is now a museum. After acquaintance with the mausoleum of Momuna khatin, the guests watched the stone monuments which are exhibited in the open air in Ajami space. They received detailed information about 450 material and cultural examples of various periods found in the autonomous republic.
