Nakhchivan city is a youth capital

The last successful achievement yesterday was the endless joy, pride for every resident of the autonomous republic. Ancient Nakhchivan, which was the first place in the online voting on www.genclerpaytaxti.az website, has maintained its leadership in the selection of the Youth Capital according to the State Program "Youth of Azerbaijan in 2016-2020". 23 regions and cities of our country campaigned for the first place in the voting from January 25, 00:01 to 31 January, 23:59. According to the results of voting, Nakhchivan city was the first with 30 percent of votes.

Nakhchivan youths gathered in the main square of the Nakhchivan city at the end of the voting and expressed their joy. The youth appreciate the election of Nakhchivan, the capital of Islamic culture this year as the "Youth Capital of Azerbaijan" election, as a great success, which was regarded as the result of great attention and care for young people in the autonomous republic.

445 visitors visited the museums of the autonomous republic in 2017

In 2017 a number of measures were carried out in the autonomous republic in the field of preservation, protection and promotion of national values, the events related to remarkable and historical days were continued, jubilees of prominent art figures were celebrated. The festivals "Talented children-2017", "Plum", "Kete", "Beekeeping products-Honey" and "Family farm products" made a great impression on residents and visitors of the autonomous republic. Last year, the work of the museum's activities at the level of the requirements of the day and expanding the museum network was continued in the ancient land. For this purpose, the Shahtakhtinski museum was rebuilt, the preparatory work on the execution of the Order of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic “On the establishment of the Nakhchivan Salt Museum” dated September 12, 2017 began. In total, 445 thousand 747 visitors visited the museums which 110 thousand 425 of them were foreigners. The residents of the ancient land actively participated in the enrichment of museum funds and 1340 exhibits were presented to our museums. Establishment of cultural service work for population in the libraries of the autonomous republic on the level of the requirements of the day was in the focus of attention, a number of measures were carried out to hold cultural and mass events and exhibitions. Regarding the execution of the Order of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated August 28, 2017 "On the books that are necessary to read", proper book sections were created in the libraries and 31 book discussions were held. In 2017, the libraries of the autonomous republic, in general, received 13,224 copies of printing products in 301 titles. The number of cultural events held in libraries was 552, the number of exhibitions was 441. Courses on "Organization of library work and modern requirements" were held and 96 librarians were given certificates.

On January 29, the discussion of the book entitled "Azerbaijan at the Threshold of the Twenty-First Century and the Third Millennium" was held in Nakhchivan city secondary school No.5 named after Huseyn Javid, according to the list of "Books Necessary for Reading".

Aytekin Gahramanova, the director of the library, PhD in History, made an opening speech at the event. In accordance with the "State Program on Strengthening Social Protection of Old Citizens in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic" approved by the Order of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated May 30, 2006, certain events are held to organize their leisure time effectively and meaningfully.

On January 29, Nakhchivan City Retirement Club hosted backgammon, draughts and chess competitions organized by the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Youth and Sports, Labor and Social Protection Ministries, the Council of Trade Unions and the Council of Elders and the Nakhchivan City Culture and Tourism Department.

Before the competition, the speakers spoke about the state care provided to the old in the autonomous republic and the work done to meet their socio-cultural needs.

Then the competition started. In total, there are 42 participants (22 backgammon, 12 chess, and 8 draughts players) and it was held on the Olympic system. Vasif Ahmedov was the winner of backgammon competition. Ramiz Guliyev was the second, Hikmat Rzayev was the third. Nagi Aliyev, Rashid Sultanov and Alibey Kangarli won the first three places in the chess competition. Kamaladdin Isayev overcame all his opponents on draughts. Nuraddin Safaraliyev was second, and Ilham Sadigov was the third.

But it is quite different in Nakhchivan. Now there remain only a few villages in the autonomous republic that their renovation is being carried step-by-step.

Shahbuz is one our regions taking benefit from social-economical development. The ruined roads in this mountainous area, the old, worthless buildings belonging to Soviet Union period gave a poor appearance here and also made the living conditions of the population extremely difficult.

Since the construction work in the autonomous republic started mainly with the remote areas, Shahbuz region also entered a long period of renewal. The roads to the remote villages of the region have been renovated, the modern appearance and beauty of new educational, medical, cultural, trade facilities have created harmony with the magnificent nature of Shahbuz. And it has become a factor for the development of tourism in this remote mountainous region. Now the visitors of this village meet this harmony in surprise and leave this region with good impressions.
