Reading day was dedicated to People’s poet

On August 11, Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Children’s Library named after Adil Babayev organized day of reading for young readers dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the national poet of Azerbaijan Mirvarid Dilbazi in the yard of the No. 1 residential building in Tabriz Street in the capital of the autonomous republic.

Opening the event, deputy director of the autonomous republic children’s library Kamala Aghayeva informed the children about Mirvarid Dilbazi’s rich poetry. It was noted that the works of well-known People’s poet are read with pleasure today. The poet was well-known as a good translator. Her translations from Nizami, Khagani, A. Navai, A. Pushkin, N. Tikhonov, S.Mikhalkov, S. Marshak and others are also read with interest.

Then the collaborator of the library Mehriban Seyidova talked about the life and creativity of the People’s poet. It was stressed that Mirvarid Dilbazi was born on August 19, 1912 in Gazakh region.

The poet’s first poem “The Freedom of Women” was published in 1927.  Dilbazi’s published books “Our Voice”, “Love for Motherland”, “Dream of the master”, “Memories”, “Images of life”, “When violets are cold”, “Mother Wing”, “Lilac aroma” and in other books the historical and sacred values of our people, the feelings of attachment to the people are greatly praised. The poet, who served for the development of Azerbaijani poetry, had also done a lot in promoting the development of our child poetry. As the people’s poet wrote for adults, she also loved children and wrote wonderful works for them. “Tales”, “Poems”, “To my younger fellows", “Gulbahar”, “Spring is coming”, “Spring songs”, “Lala’s trees” and other books that the people’s poet wrote for the children brought her fame. The works of the poet who knew the world of childhood are distinguished for their sincerity and clear language. Devotion to nation, patriotism, belief in man and love are the main themes of her poetry.  Her large-volume poems also portray life images with great mastership. “Mahsati”, “Algerian girl”, “Gulbahar” and other poems are read with pleasure.

At the end of the event, along with the exhibition of poet’s books, the exhibition of more than 250 books which newly were presented to the library took place. Library staff informed the participants about the books.
