The next seminar-training for museum guides was held in Babek region

“Museums are one of the most important places in terms of protection and promotion of history, national-moral values of our people. Therefore, the guide of the museum should always develop himself and be able to answer questions completely”.

These ideas were mentioned at the trainings for museum guides held at History and Ethnography Museum of Babek Region and Memorial Museum of Jalil Mammadguluzadeh in Nehram Village on October 25 organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of   Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

Speaking about the purpose and significance of the event, the chief adviser of the Ministry’s cultural heritage and museum affairs Gumral Mamiyeva made a speech on the topic “The behavior rules of museum guides” and said that museums of various profile are operating in the autonomous republic. The museums are given special attention today, their material-technical base is strengthened, level of professionalism of the employees is increased. After the Decree of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated December 19, 2014, “On Strengthening the Relations with Museums”,   a significant increase in the number of visitors to museums is observed. This, in turn, requires more active and more responsive work of museum staff, museum guides. The main purpose of the today’s seminar is to provide methodological assistance to increase the professionalism of museum guides.

It was emphasized that during the training seminars, museum guides have been thoroughly studied about the functions of the museum, as well as learn about the museum work. At the same time, seminar-trainings are also important for the museum staff to get acquainted with the museums located in all regions of our autonomous region. In such events, museum guides are told about innovations in this area, and their questions are answered.

It was noted that, consistent measures are being taken to organize museum activities at the highest level in the autonomous republic. All these require great responsibility from the museum guides. Today it is very important for our museums to have guides that are well-informed, educated, foreign language speakers, capable of conducting comparative analysis of exhibits exhibited in the exposition, well-informed about the cultural center where they work. In addition, the museum guide must obey the rules of conduct with the people who come to visit, treat them with courtesy, have their own style of clothing, and have a good impression on those who come to the museum with their intellectual outlook. Museum guides should be aware of museum work and innovations in the autonomous republic, should pay attention to visitors’ questions and respond to scientific facts and historical facts.

Then the expositions of museums were viewed by the presentation of the museum guides and excursions were discussed.

At the end, participants’ questions were answered and methodical recommendations were given on the guide text, ethical rules of museum guide.
