Excursion of students to Khanagah Monument complex

On December 6, by the organization of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, IV-year students of tourism and hospitality specialty of Nakhchivan State University and “Nakhchivan” University went on excursion to Khanagah Monument Complex.

The head of tourism department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Akbar Novruzov informed the students that on March 18, 2016, the Supreme Majlis of  Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic held a consultation on "Tourism development in  Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic", and important tasks were set up for the relevant organizations. In order to implement the given tasks, the Ministry also prepared a Plan of Action and a number of activities were undertaken to develop and promote tourism. Preparation of electronic resources promoting the tourism potential of the autonomous republic and posting on the Internet is being continued consistently. The internet campaign “We present Nakhchivan” held on the occasion of September 27-World Tourism Day by the Ministry and Nakhchivan Tourism Information Center, about 1000 photos and over 150 video clips on 10 sections related to the tourism opportunities of our ancient land were shared.

It was stressed that 338 thousand 715 tourists visited the autonomous republic in January-October of 2017, which is 3.2% or 10502 people more than in the corresponding period of last year. Announcing the city of Nakhchivan as the capital of Islamic culture in 2018 will also play an important role in demonstrating our tourism opportunities.

It was noted that educative events were continued in the past period, the students studied at tourism and hospitality specialty had the opportunity to practice at the cultural and tourism facilities of our ancient land. The organization of excursions to the nature and historical monuments for the students was also kept in focus. The excursion to Khanagah Monument Complex is also aimed at acquaintance with this historical monument. Excursions, conferences, seminars and tourism related events will be continued with students.

Then the students got acquainted with Khanagah Monument Complex. The guide informed that the monument is an architectural complex belonging to the Middle Ages. It was noted that the complex is located in the center of the medieval Khanagah residence. Representatives of the Sufi movement also settled here in the Middle Ages. There are also interesting sources and facts that prove the presence and survival of Sufi representatives, especially during the Teymuris period.

The students met the excursion with interest.
