The march to Hachadagah was organized on the occasion of the commemoration of the victims of Khojaly tragedy. 11 members of "Ilandagh" Sports Club of the Federation of Air and Extreme Sports of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and 26 sportsmen from different regions of Turkey participated in the march.
The march started in the territory of Gal village, Julfa region. Reaching the top of the mountain, the participants honored the memory of the victims of Khojaly genocide, opened posters there. We introduce the impressions of the march participants.
Yakub Karatash (Antalya, teacher): - It is my first visit to Nakhchivan. I heard that there would be a march to Hachadagh related to Khojaly genocide. Though it was difficult I managed to reach the top. Last year, there was a march related to it, but I was not aware of it. When I heard about it, I talked my group leader and came here within four days. Organizing such events is good.
They said that there are more people this year comparing with the last year. It is good. I think there will be more people next year if it happens.
Alpinism is my hobby. At present I am working as a teacher in Antalya and I march to the nearby mountains at the weekends. I am very pleased to be here, to see this beautiful land. The people here are very hospitable, they meet us very friendly. We took a walk in the city of Nakhchivan, we admired the richness of the museums in terms of historical exhibits.
Merve Tekin Yildiz (Istanbul, computer operator): -First, I would like to speak about the beauty, cleanness, peace of Nakhchivan. Let me admit that I did not image Nakhchivan like this: Noisy, irregular movement of cars and density like in Istanbul. When I came here, I realized I was wrong. The cleanliness of Nakhchivan, the friendly attitude of people, the traffic in the city, the behavior of people in the hotel and in the city - everything is different and very beautiful.
As for the march to Hachadagh, I would say it was one of the most difficult climbs. At the command of the group leader, we went to the top in a difficult way. Frankly, I had difficulty two or three times. Particularly slippery rocks on the road near the top made our job difficult. Nevertheless, we conquered the top and this was one of the most beautiful marches in my life.
Jelal Karaali (Istanbul, the founder of “Yasham” (life) newspaper): - The march to Hachadagh is one of the most beautiful steps to introduce the Khojaly genocide, the Armenian vandalism to the world. My newspaper regularly publishes articles about it. We try to disseminate this brutality against humanity as far as we can and to bring it to the world community. The march to the top was a tough one. Then, when the march is organized, I will come to Nakhchivan. Because this land has given me a very natural impression. The attitude shown to us in Nakhchivan during three days has left all our fatigue. The cleanness, the peace in the city adds extra beauty.
Volkan Mikyas (Igdir, sportsman): - Climbing to the top of Hachadagh was one of the most difficult marches. Because we were interested in the mountain beforehand and knew that there were rocky cliffs close to the top. That's why we faced difficulties. In such marches you have to think about your friends and teammates. Thankfully, we have overcome difficulties and reached the top. I have taken this stone from there (points the mountain). This will be one of the most beautiful stones in my collection. What is gained with difficulty is wonderful.
I live in Igdir region on the border with Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. I have heard a lot about Nakhchivan and I am aware of the beauty, cleanness and tranquility of this place. Our friends who came to this city for the first time said that they shared my opinion. Next year, we intend to come to Hachadagh to conquer the top on the Khojaly genocide day.
