Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov, Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri,minister of culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan Abulfas Garayev and representatives of foreign countries who came to the autonomous republic to participate in the opening ceremony of “Nakhchivan the Capital of Islamic Culture-2018” visited the Nakhchivangala Historical-Architectural Complex. 

It was noted that the territory of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic is one of the ancient settlements of the world. Throughout history, rich cultural and architectural examples have been created in this ancient land. Among these monuments, Nakhchivangala is of great importance. The castle was not only defensive, but also became an integral element of the urban culture formed here. The restoration of Nakhchivangala began in 2010, the previous appearance of the castle returned. In order to provide the protection of the ancient historical-cultural heritage of Nakhchivan, in accordance with the Decree of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated June 5, 2013 “Nakhchivangala” Historical-Architectural Museum Complex was established. There are different household items of V-III millenniums B.C, ceramic products of the Late Bronze and Early Iron ages, copper tools, gravestone monuments, arms, armoured clothes.

During the visit the tomb of Prophet Noah it was noted that the tomb was restored on the basis of the Decree of the Chairman of the    Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated June 28, 2006 “On the restoration of tomb of Prophet Noah in Nakhchivan city”. The guests were detailed informed about the history of the tomb.

On the day the guests were also got acquainted with the new mosque being constructed in Nakhchivan city. It was informed that systematic measures are carried out in the direction of preserving and promoting religious-spiritual values in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Religious-cultural monuments in the territory of the autonomous republic are restored, new mosques are constructed, necessary conditions are created for the praying of the devout. The election of Nakhchivan city as the Capital of Islamic Culture for 2018 has significantly expanded the scope of these activities. The mosque will consist of a worship room, two 40-meter minarets, a madrasa (religious school of Mussulmen) for girls and boys, and a library. At present, the mosque is under construction. 5 thousand people will be able to pray in the mosque with 15 domes.

Later the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis and the guests visited Nakhchivan Business Center. The guests were informed about the activity of the center and social-economical development indicators of the autonomous republic. It was noted that different kinds of food and industry products produced in the autonomous republic, handicrafts and drawings are exhibited in the center. As well as different events, business forums, business-like meetings and conferences are held here. 192 kinds and 1258 varieties of products of 94 enterprises, products produced in family farms, handicrafts made by individual artisans, paintings, carpets and maps of production facilities of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic are demonstrated in the exhibition hall.

During the acquaintance with Nakhchivan “Ashabi-Kahf Sanctusary” Religious-Cultural Monument Complex was also visited. It was noted that among the unique and ancient monuments of Nakhchivan the Ashabi-Kahf sanctuary occupies a special place.  The “Al-Kahf” chapter of “Koran”, holy book of Moslems deals with Ashabi-Kahf and this is another proof of the recognition and popularity of the ancient sanctuary in the pre-Koran period. The instruction of the Great Leader to complete the reconstruction and restoration of the Ashabi-Kahf in 1998 is a clear example of our concern for the religion and history of our people. The work carried out in the direction of religious tourism development in Nakhchivan, restoration and preservation of religious and cultural monuments, organized tourism routes serve as a tool to promote our religious values to the world. "Ashabi-Kahf Sanctuary" Religious and Cultural Monument Complex has become a pilgrimage of pilgrims all over the world. More than 20,000 local and foreign visitors have visited this miraculous area over the past period of this year alone.

Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov, participants of “Nakhchivan the Capital of Islamic Culture-2018” opening ceremony visited Duzdagh Physiotherapy Center, got acquainted with the activity of the center. It was mentioned that in Duzdagh Physiotherapy Center, which is based on salt mines, people suffering from bronchial asthma and other non-specific diseases of the lung-bronchial system are treated. Temperature is stable in a 600-bed hospital. The clean air in Nakhchivan, the dry climate, plenty of sunny days of the climate keep the humidity level in the hospital normal. Nearly 400 patients from around the world are being treated at the center, which is crucial for the development of medical tourism.
