As known at the VI conference of culture ministers of member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held in Baku in 2009, adopted the resolution to declare the city of Nakhchivan as the capital of Islamic culture in 2018.
On the basis of the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev dated June 2, 2016, at the first meeting of the Organizing Committee established in connection with the declaration of Nakhchivan city as the capital of Islamic culture in 2018, the direction of the work to be done regarding the preparations was discussed and the project of Action Plan was discussed on November 25, 2016.
The Action Plan also envisages release of the postage stamps and envelopes. 100,000 postage stamps and 100,000 envelopes produced by “Azermarka” Limited Liability Company were brought to the autonomous republic by order of the Ministry of Communications and New Technologies of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and released into circulation from January 8. The size of the postage stamp with the logo of "Nakhchivan Capital of Islamic Culture - 2018" on standard-size postage stamps intended for domestic and international postage delivery is 220 x 112 millimeters.
In addition, there are 12 postage stamps and 1 first-day envelope and 100 gift booklets on which Hachadag's logo "Nakhchivan Capital of Islamic Culture-2018" and "Gulustan" tomb are reflected.
