An event dedicated to the 60th anniversary of well-known singer Azizaga Mammadov, People’s Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was held in Nakhchivan State Philharmony on August 25.
Opening the event, Natavan Gadimova, Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, said that in the ancient land, artists are paid special attention and care. The jubilee of Azizaga Mammadov, who celebrated his 60th birthday today, is a fine example of the continuation of these traditions. The Minister congratulated people’s artist Azizaga Mammadov on his 60th birthday and wished him creative successes. It was noted that the famous singer devoted 40 years to the development of our musical culture. From his early age his musical talent led him to the ensemble of folk instruments “Taravat”, functioning in the Ordubad district. After working here, he came to Nakhchivan. Since 1979 he has been the singer of Nakhchivan State Philharmony. In his repertoire “Azerbaijan marali”, “Sari galin” and tens of other folk songs were sounded and applauded in a number of foreign countries.
The singer is also a great performer of folk songs and tasnifs, but also known as the performer of numerous composer songs.
It was noted that one of the distinctive features of Azizaga Mammadov is in his repertoire songs about Azerbaijan and ancient Nakhchivan , Motherland and state love occupy a special place. “Nakhchivan”, “Batabat”, “Na gozeldir Azerbiajan”, “Uchrangli bayragim”, “Azerbaijan ogluyam” and other songs have been performed by him with pleasure.
Azizaga Mammadov’s musical culture is highly appreciated by our state. He was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in 2003, the Honored Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2006, and People’s Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2008 and the President’s Award.
At the event, director of Nakhchivan State Philharmony, Honored artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elman Aliyev, chairman of Union of Writers of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Honored worker of culture Asim Aliyev, Honored art worker Kamal Ahmedov, Honored worker of culture of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, tarist Akram Mammadov, Honored Artist of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, tarist Zohrab Akhundov and others shared their heartfelt words.
Songs and musical pieces were performed by famous singer’s colleagues at the event. Finally, Azizaga Mammadov expressed his gratitude to the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for his assessment and said that he would continue to work for the development of our musical culture.
