The educative event at State Migration Service

Enlightenment event on “Behruz Kangarli’s creativity” with the participation of foreigners and stateless persons was held at the State Migration Service of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Opening the event Samir Abbasov, employee of the service spoke about the importance of such events.

Director of the Bahruz Kangarli museum Sabina Alinjali spoke about the creativity of the painter. It was noted that, even though the painter tested his brush on a variety of topics, all his creativity related to the Motherland, land, the people, our destiny. He worked on portraits of the leading intellectuals of the period, caricature and satirical paintings, created painting, watercolor and paint works reflecting architectural, landscape and household scenes. There are a number of works in his creativity that reflect the pain of the tragic years of our people. Bahruz Kangarli portrayed the tragic events committed by Armenian dashnaks in Azerbaijan in 1918-1920, he created series of portraits of Azerbaijani refugees who had been driven out of their native lands and had sheltered Nakhchivan. These paintings reflecting the historical realities are an indispensable source for delivering massacres, deportations and nationwide troubles committed by the dashnaks to future generations.

It was stated that Bahruz Kangarli Museum was established on the basis of the Decree of the Chairman of Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated May 22, 2001. The opening of the museum was on June 18, 2002 with the participation of our national leader Heydar Aliyev. In 2012, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan signed the Decree on holding the 120th anniversary of Bahruz Kangarli. On the basis of this Decree a number of measures were carried out in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, copies of works of Bahruz Kangarli preserving in the fund of Azerbaijan National Art Museum were presented to the museum, for the first time the complete collection of the artist’s works was released as album-catalog. At the same time, postage stamps, a documentary film devoted to the life and activity of the outstanding artist was prepared in the autonomous republic. The building of the museum was rebuilt, the museum was put into operation in 2013. Today, hundreds of exhibits of the rich heritage of the realist artist are preserved in the museum.
