October 24, 2017 is the 135th anniversary of the prominent representative of the Azerbaijan Literature poet-playwright Husein Javid.
On this occasion, the literary and artistic event was held at the Pensioners’ Club No.2 in Nakhchivan, organized by the Nakhchivan City Centralized Library System named after Imran Gasimov.
Opening the event director of the Centralized Library System Sadagat Asgarova said that Javid is one of the great poets who played an unprecedented role in the development of the XX century Azerbaijani literature. Husein Javid’s creativity, which derives his own source from the deepest levels of national culture, is closely linked to the aesthetic ideas of the East and the traditions of the world’s romanticism. H.Cavid has gone through an exemplary way of life that demonstrates the integrity of his writer’s identity.
At the event, the collaborator of the Centralized Library System Pirgulu Mammadov made a speech about life and creativity of Husein Javid, and Shahla Usifova about Huseyn Javid’s “Sheikh Sanan” drama. It was noted that the XX century is the beginning of a new era in the history of Azerbaijani literature. During this period, as in the social life of Azerbaijan, great changes were made in literary criticism, poets and writers were engaged in artistic creativity, and one of them was Husein Javid, the most productive representative of Azerbaijani romanticism.
Husein Javid wrote “Abyss” (1905), “Mother” (1910), “Maral” (1912), “Sheikh Sanan” (1913-14), “Sheyda” (1917), “The Satan” (1918), “Afat” (1922), “Prohpet” (1923), “Timur” (1925) and other drama works. His poems are read with great affection by the readers today.
Member of the Union of Journalists of Azerbaijan Abulfaz Rashidoglu spoke about memories of Husein Javid.
At the end of the event, schoolchildren performed Husein Javid’s poems.
