An event related to Husein Javid Poetry Day was held

At first, participants of the event visited Husein Javid’s mausoleum in the center of the city and visited the house-museum of the great poet in Nakhchivan.

Opening the ceremony held at Nakhchivan State Musical Drama Theater named after Jalil Mammadguluzadeh, Minister of Culture and Tourism of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Natavan Gadimova said that 135 years have passed since the birth of poet-playwright Husein Javid, one of the prominent representatives of Azerbaijani literature, distinguished for his originality both in poetry and dramaturgy. Husein Javid was sentenced to eight years in prison in June 1937 under the pretext of his participation in the “secret nationalistic counter-revolutionary organization”. Since then, it was forbidden to publish and stage all of his works.

With the support of great leader Heydar Aliyev, Javid’s works began to be published in the 70s of the last century and 2 volumes were published in Russian. National leader Heydar Aliyev took a step that required great courage, Javid’s funeral was brought from Far Siberia to Baku in 1982 and to Nakhchivan on November 2. This fact is the only courageous example of the state-level attitude towards the repressed person in the former Soviet Union.

It was noted that on October 23, 1992, the 110th anniversary of Husein Javid was celebrated in Nakhchivan solemnly, at the jubilee event, the national leader who was the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis in Nakhchivan at that time, delivered a profound speech on Husein Javid and touched upon a number of issues related to the perpetuation of the great poet’s memory. After prominent state figure Heydar Aliyev returned to political power in 1993 he continued his support to Javid’s personality, heritage and family. On June 10, 1995, at the meeting held with the national leader Heydar Aliyev, a wide range of issues related to the establishment of the tomb and the house-museum of prominent playwright Husein Javid were discussed. On October 29, 1996, the solemn opening of the tomb of the great playwright was held in Nakhchivan. This ceremony was the triumph of care and love to great Javid, and the creation of the mausoleum was not only for the great poet, but also a monument to the Javids.

“The decree of the great leader on the celebration of the 120th anniversary of Husein Javid   dated October 23, 2002, proves that prominent statesman Heydar Aliyev was always attentive to the study of the heritage of the great poet”- said Natavan Gaimova. The minister stressed that this decree is an inexhaustible affection for Javid’s personality and creativity, the creation of Husein Javid’s house museums in Baku and Nakhchivan, and the monument to the outstanding writer in Baku in 1993 are the brilliant expressions of state care.

It was noted that the orders of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev, signed on 17 April 2007 and on 16 February 2012, should be regarded as the continuation of the state care holding the great playwright Husein Javid’s 125th and 130th jubilees. According to the Action Plan approved by the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of  Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on the jubilee dated May 15, 2007 and February 20, 2012,  jubilee events have been held at the highest level in the ancient land, “Husein Javid classes” have been conducted in higher and secondary schools of the autonomous republic, scientific conferences and symposiums have been organized. Also in Nakhchivan State Musical Drama Theater Husein Javid’s “Sheikh Sanan” work was prepared for the performance and a special issue dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the poet was published in “Nakhchivan” magazine. In the Action Plan approved by the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis dated May 15, 2007, the birthday of the prominent poet and playwright October 24 is celebrated as “Husein Javid Poetry Day” in the autonomous republic every year.

It was noticed that Husein Javid’s works and personality are still living today. On the occasion of the135th anniversary of Husein Javid, Nakhchivan State Musical Drama Theater   prepared a performance on the basis of “Iblis” (The Satan) tragedy of the great writer in the 135th season of the theatre. All of these once again show that Husein Javid’s study and promotion is in the center of attention in Nakhchivan, where he was born.

Then the spectacle based on the “Iblis” tragedy of the prominent writer was performed.
