On November 8, Honored culture worker of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Akif Hajiyev, inhabitant of Gilanchay village of Ordubad region Khayal Fataliyev, inhabitant of Nakhchivan city Sadi Mammadov, inhabitant of Babek region Inayat Fatullayev, inhabitant of Shahbuz city Shahin Orujov, inhabitant of Arazin village of Julfa region Mahmud Zeynalov presented 156 exhibits to Nakhchivan State Historical Museum, including copper and pottery household items, agricultural tools, weaving tools and so on, reflecting our ancient culture and history.
Speaking at the event held on this occasion, the minister of culture and tourism of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Natavan Gadimova stated that the ancient Nakhchivan city, which has 5 millennia history, reflects ancient, antique and medieval urban culture, was the capital of the Atabeylar state, the Nakhchivan khanate in various periods of history, is rich with its historical and cultural monuments. Hundreds of clay pots, painted containers, bronze statues, items and decorations found during archaeological expeditions show the existence of different cultures in this land at one time. The grave of Noah Prophet, famous rock paintings in Gamigaya territory allow Nakhchivan to be regarded as one of the most important centers of human civilization. There are 29 museums and one museum-type institution in the autonomous republic and they preserve nearly 140 thousand material-cultural samples reflecting the history of our people, life style and traditions. Until the years of independence, there were 13 museums in the autonomous republic, and after the independence, 16 museums were created that reflect the history of Nakhchivan and the creativity of the outstanding personalities. It was stressed that the number of visitors to our museums has increased dramatically and the museum workers have great responsibility. According to the Decree of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic “On strengthening the relations with museums” dated December 19, 2014, the collectives of ministries, committees and organizations of the autonomous republic visit our museums in organized form. In addition, the visit of students, young people, students, taxi drivers to museums has been provided.
Last year the museums of the autonomous republic were visited by nearly 321 thousand visitors, this year over 322 visitors have visited the museums. Among these visitors there are visitors from the other regions of Azerbaijan, including more than 76 thousand foreigners.
It was noted that collecting material and cultural samples for our museums is in the spotlight of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and the residents of the autonomous republic are actively engaged in this work. Only in 2016, museums received more than 1500 exhibits and 993 exhibits have been presented during the 9 months of this year. Protection of the history and culture of our people, of course, is the duty of each of us.
Natavan Gadimova thanked Akif Hajiyev, Shahin Orujov, Sadi Mammadov, Inayat Fatullayev, Mahmud Zeynalov, Khayal Fataliyev for presenting material and cultural samples to the museum. She expressed gratitude on behalf of all the cultural workers to the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for his attention and care in the development of our culture.
Director of Nakhchivan State History Museum, Honored Culture Worker of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Nizami Rahimov praised the initiative of the citizens and said that these exhibits serve the museum’s enrichment.
Akif Hajiyev and Sadi Mammadov, who presented exhibits to the museum, stated that today in the autonomous republic continuous measures are being taken to preserve our cultural heritage and bring it to future generations. The activities carried out by the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in the field of enriching museums with exhibits, creation of new museums are gratifying. Every citizen tries to make a contribution to the measures that are being taken to preserve our cultural heritage. In this sense, it is also important for citizens to present ancient household items to museums. The transfer of these exhibits to our museums serves to preserve our rich cultural heritage and bring it to future generations. Our people will actively participate in collecting material and cultural samples in the autonomous republic.
