28 years passed since 20 January tragedy. Those painful days have been engraved in the memory of each of our citizens forever. This date, along with the tragedy of a nation, was the day of the first pinnacle of the independence of Azerbaijan, the national aspiration, our desire for freedom.
An event dedicated to "National Mourning Day" was held in Julfa District Culture House on 19 January. Before the beginning of the event, the souls of our martyrs who died for the integrity of Azerbaijan were commemorated with a minute of silence. Parvin Hasanov, Head of the Culture and Tourism Department of the region, stated that the transfer of Armenians to the South Caucasus, especially to the Azerbaijani lands according to the Gulustan and Turkmenchay treaties, and their protection by the Russian Empire laid the foundations for the tragedies against Azerbaijanis. For a century, massacres and deportations have been committed by offensive enemies and their supporters.
Irada Abdullayeva, a teacher at the secondary school number 2 in Julfa city, spoke about "January 20" events.
The artistic part of the event featured children's composition.
