A conference on the topic “Tourism potential of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic”

On February 20, the conference on the topic “Tourism potential of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic” was held with the participation of the students of Nakhchivan State University and “Nakhchivan” University at Nakhchivan State Film Fund.

Opening the event, the head of Tourism department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Akbar Novruzov stated that the Decree of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated July 27, 2015 “On giving voluntary assistance by the associated organizations to the professions in the institutions of higher and secondary special education” is an important state document in the term of preparing qualified experts. The ministry of Culture and Tourism gives assistance to more than 20 professions on culture and tourism. The students studying at tourism and hospitality professions at higher educational institutions are taking part in today’s conference.

It was noted that with the care and attention of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Mr. Vasif Talibov, in recent years, the promotion of our cultural heritage, reconstruction of treatment facilities, conducting international scientific events and sports competitions, implemented reconstruction work affected the development of tourism, caused to increase the number of the tourists coming to the autonomous republic. The proclamation of Nakhchivan as the capital of Islamic culture for 2018 tells about the coming of more tourists to the ancient city.

It was emphasized that the rich history, mineral water springs, unique nature monuments and unique cuisine, stability and settlements with modern infrastructure are the main factors for the development of tourism in Nakhchivan.

The head of the department also mentioned that this field is always in the focus of the attention. “State Program related to the development of tourism of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in 2018-2022” approved by the Decree of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated January 31, 2018, opens up wide opportunities being an expression of care and attention to this field.

Head of the Chair of Municipal and Tourism of Nakhchivan State University Flora Kerimova delivered a speech on the topic "Current state and development directions of tourism in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic", and the teacher of “Nakhchivan” University Shahnaz Mammadova on the topic “Tourism and hotel activity in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic” at the conference.

It was stated that there is great potential for the development of rural, ecological, pilgrimage, mountaineering, treatment tourism and other types in the autonomous republic. Fertile land, fresh water, clean air, rich herbals open up wide opportunities for the development of ecological tourism in Nakhchivan. Today, there are 21 hotels and a hotel-type facility, tourism routes covering all the regions of the autonomous republic. The establishment of modern infrastructure covering all regions of the autonomous republic, increasing the service is the main factors to develop tourism.
