An event related to International Mother Language Day

On February 21, the event dedicated to International Mother Language Day was held at Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Library named after Mammad Said Ordubadi.

Speaking at the event the minister of culture and tourism of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Natavan Gadimova stated that the national leader Heydar Aliyev implemented a great deal of work for the comprehensive development of our language,  getting its status as official state language, to enter international relations system, world diplomacy, and attached great importance to language policy. The Azerbaijani language was largely the object of scientific research in both periods of the National Leader's rule. Numerous scientific and theoretical works on the problems of modern Azerbaijani language were created.

The President of the country Mr.Ilham Aliyev who successfully continues the political course of the national leader, has created comprehensive opportunities for the promotion of our language. In many developed countries there are schools which educate students in the Azerbaijani language. These schools have been provided with textbooks, methodological and artistic literature in our native language.   Nowadays, our language is heard every day, at every moment, with a magnificent, proud voice from world-famous chairs, international events, theater stages, concert halls, scientific establishments, sports palaces and military units.

“Today, the state language policy is carried out successfully in the autonomous republic too” - said Natavan Gadimova. The minister mentioned said that the use of language correctly in verbal or written speech, further development and strengthening of our native language, and its promotion are in the center of attention. The measures realized in this direction are met with sympathy by the public. The first “Mother language” monument was erected in Nakhchivan in the country and it is the great expression of respect to our mother language.

The Chairman of the Writers’ Union of the autonomous republic, Honored culture worker Asim Aliyev noted that rich folk examples - eposes, tales, bayatis, legends, rumours, proverbs, songs have been created in Azerbaijan language, passing through the fountain of language have reached the XXI century. Mahammad Fuzuli, Molla Panah Vagif, Jalil Mammadguluzadeh, Mammad Said Ordubadi, Mirza Alakbar Sabir, Mammad Araz and other outstanding poets and writers created immortal art examples for our people.

Then the leading scientific worker at the Institute of Art, Language and Literature of Nakhchivan Branch of ANAS, PhD on philology Zulfiyya Ismayil made a speech on the topic "Mother tongue is our national wealth", and the head of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Library named after Mammad Said Ordubadi, PhD on history Aytakin Gahramanova on the topic “The role of libraries in the promotion of our mother language”.

The poets Yadulla Zaman, Abulfaz Ulvi read their poems dedicated to our language, the actors of Nakhchivan State Musical Drama Theatre named after Jalil Mammadguluzadeh, People’s artist Hasan Aghasoy, Nurbaniz Niftaliyeva, Anar Eyvazov recited poems of our poets dedicated our mother language.

At the end the exhibition was viewed.
