An event dedicated to the 149th anniversary of the great writer was held in Jalil Mammadguluzade's house-museum in Nakhchivan on February 22.
Kamala Tahirova, the acting director of the museum, made an opening speech at the event, and said that he was a playwright, writer-publicist, and the founder of the "Molla Nasreddin" school. The eternal rich heritage of him is an example of independence, Azerbaijanism, nationalism and citizenship for yesterday, today, and future generations.
It was noted that Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, paid great attention to the heritage of Jalil Mammadguluzade, research and publication of his works. Thanks to the national leader, Jalil Mammadguluzade's works have been published massively, and great works have been done to perpetuate his memory.
Then, Saadat Gasimova, the guide of the museum, spoke in detail on "Jalil Mammadguluzade and the Soviet Period" and told about the great writer's activities in this period. It was noted that during that period he faced some difficulties. The great writer came under groundless attacks in the Soviet era. Since 1926, "Molla Nasreddin" magazine had published without his editor signature. During the Soviet era, the 25th anniversary of the publication of the "Molla Nasreddin" magazine was not celebrated.
It was noted that the works of the great writer are included in the gold fund of our literature. Next generations rediscover him. This is the greatness of Jalil Mammadguluzade's personality and heritage.
At the event, pupils of secondary school №14 in Nakhchivan sang the satirical poems of Jalil Mammadguluzade and displayed plays of his topical satires and stories.
Then museum exposition and exhibition were viewed.
