Kim Chang-gyu, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Korea Republic to the Azerbaijan Republic, paid an official visit to Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on March 6-7, 2018. During the visit, the guest visited production and cultural facilities and historical monuments of the autonomous republic. On March 6, the Korean diplomat laid flowers at the monument to the great leader Heydar Aliyev in the main square of Nakhchivan and visited the Heydar Aliyev Museum.
The guest visited Nakhchivan Business Center was informed about the achievements of the autonomous republic in the economic sphere. It was noted that there were products of 192 varieties and 1258 species of 94 enterprises, products of 17 varieties and 112 species produced in 37 family farming, 254 handicrafts by 30 artisians, paintings, carpets and the map of production facilities of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic there.
The guest visited the Ordubad Region History-Ethnography Museum located in the historic building "Geysariyya" and he was informed about the exhibits there. It was noted that the museum was located in "Geysariyya" building, the 12th century monument. In the past a covered eastern market built to sell jewelries belonged to shahs was called "Geysariyya". "Geysariyya" is one of the rare monuments in the world. There are such buildings in three parts of the world - Samargand, Tabriz and Ordubad.
On March 7, Kim Chang-gyu, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Korea to our country, visit the "Ashabi-Kahf Sanctuary" the Religious Cultural Monument Complex. The ambassador was informed about the mysterious history of Ashabi-Kahf.
It was noted in Aghbulag Recreation Center that this recreation center, attracted attention as a result of the initial measures implemented in the field of rural tourism, was put into operation in 2013.
At the Batabat climate-resort zone, the guest informed that 32 kinds of wild animals, 127 kinds of birds and 1580 kinds of plants were preserved at the Shahbuz State Nature Reserve, covering 3139 hectares of the Batabat plateau at an altitude of 2450 meters above sea level.
The ambassador was closely interested in the lakes in Batabat. It was noted that the famous Floating island, Zorbulag was also there. The floating island is formed of sphagnum mosses and coverings over it. Depending on the direction of the wind, the island is moving.
An official visit of Kim Chang-gyu, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Korea to Azerbaijan, to Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic ended on March 7.
Kim Chang-gyu shared his impressions on his visit to the autonomous republic. Speaking about the visit, the guest noted that the main purpose is to get acquainted with the autonomous republic and discuss the directions of development of cooperation. Noting that he held several high-level meetings in Nakhchivan, the diplomat expressed his gratitude for hospitality.
Kim Chang-gyu said: "When I visited the Ordubad History-Ethnography Museum, "Ashabi-Kahf Sanctuary" the Religious Cultural Monument Complex, I witnessed the ancient history of the Azerbaijani people. I would like to emphasize that Nakhchivan has a very beautiful and magnificent nature, historical monuments, rich cuisine and extensive tourism potential. Therefore, I will do my utmost to introduce the tourism opportunities of this ancient land to the Korean".
Noting that despite the blockade conditions, the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic has a great development path, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Korea to Azerbaijan stated that the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan and the Korea Republic have great opportunities for the development of relations in the fields of economy, education, culture and tourism.
