On March 27, Nakhchivan State Musical Drama Theater named after Jalil Mammadguluzadeh hosted an event dedicated to International Theater Day.
At the event, Minister of Culture and Tourism of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Natavan Gadimova said that on March 27, 1961, at the IX Congress of the International Theater Institute of UNESCO in Vienna, every year March 27 is celebrated as International Theater Day.
It was stressed that the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic provides comprehensive care for the activities of theaters. In recent years, in the autonomous republic, consistent measures have been taken to strengthen the financial and technical basis of theaters, and all the theater buildings have been reconstructed or repaired.
The minister pointed out that in the years of independence creative searches, tours of our theaters have expanded, collectives have become professional propagandists of our national values. The Nakhchivan State Children's Theater, established by the Order of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated October 4, 2006, has managed to worm into confidence of children with various performances. Also folk theaters are successfully operating in cities and districts of the autonomous republic. Dozens of performances by folk theaters have been welcomed by the public.
The work of Nakhchivan theater collectives has been highly appreciated by our state over the years. For their effective activity, artists working in this field have been awarded honorary titles and medals of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and Presidential scholarship and awards.
Natavan Gadimova thanked Mr. Vasif Talibov, the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, for his great attention and care for culture and art in our autonomous republic.
In the artistic part of the event, the performance of the Belgian poet-playwright, Nobel Prize laureate Maurice Maeterlinck's "The Blue Bird" was watched.
