An exhibition of handicrafts was held at Nakhchivan Tourism Information Center on April 18.
At the opening of the exhibition organized by the “Nakhchivan Cuisine” Culinary Center, Gulbuta Babayeva, head of the office of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic made a speech and noted that a number of events are being held in the autonomous republic on the proclamation of Nakhchivan as the Capital of Islamic Culture. This event is also dedicated to this remarkable event. After the Decree of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated February 7, 2009 "On holding Folk days in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic", important measures have been taken in the direction of preserving, propagandizing and handing down our national-moral values the next generations in our ancient land, and these works are consistently continued. Nakhchivan cuisine, which has rich history and great achievements, is an important part of our national culture. Systematic study and development, promotion of culinary culture which is the one of the earliest field of folk creativity, the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Mr. Vasif Talibov signed the Order "On establishing “Nakhchivan Cuisine” Culinary Center on April 9, 2009 and it started to operate under the the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
Speaking at the event, director of the “Nakhchivan Cuisine” Culinary Center Turkay Safarzadeh said that the center collects, systematizes and promotes the forgotten cuisine samples. Ancient kitchen utensils and rules of their use are studied and our national cuisine traditions are promoted, folklore samples related to our cuisine are collected and competitions and festivals are held to introduce our ancient cuisine samples. On the 10th of June, 2017, the “The ancient tandir(oven made of clay in a hole in the earth) meal” contest was held titled under “Let’s introduce our national cuisine" and the winners were awarded diplomas of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
It was noted that "Nakhchivan Cuisine" Culinary Center will continue these events in the future.
In the artistic part of the event, soloists of Folk Musical Instruments Ensemble of Nakhchivan State Children's Philharmonic Mikayil Nasirov, Fuad Mamiyev, Tayyar Madatli, Ali Mehraliev, Alakbar Sadigov performed songs of Azerbaijani composers, mughams and tasnifs.
Then the exhibition of handicrafts was viewed. Along with national cuisine samples, handmade works, especially handmade stained-glass windows, examples of beads, paper, fabric and wood products have caused interest.
Handicrafts related to the Nakhchivan Capital of Islamic Culture have attracted more attention. The exhibition, which exhibited up to 50 works, lasted for 2 days.
