An open lesson at Babak Region History-Ethnography Museum

An open lesson on "Azerbaijan Democratic Republic - our history of honor and dignity" dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was held at the Babak Region History-Ethnography Museum on April 19 with the participation of pupils of Nehram village secondary school  №2.

At the beginning of the lesson the pupils got acquainted with the exhibition "Azerbaijan Democratic Republic - 100".

The director of the museum, Arzu Gasimov, said in his opening speech that the announcement of 2018 as the "Year of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic", according to the Order of Mr. President Ilham Aliyev, is an appreciation of our national-moral values, our history, our past and present. It was noted that on May 28, 1918, the Declaration of Independence, which declared the independence of Azerbaijan, was adopted. The newly established Azerbaijan Democratic Republic fulfilled its historic task with honor and dignity with full effort. The first Parliament and Government of Azerbaijan, the state machinery were established, the borders of the country were determined. In particular, the State Flag and Coat of Arms were created, the Azerbaijani language was declared a state language and important measures were taken in the field of state building.

The territorial integrity and national security of the country were ensured, in a short time, highly-qualified military units were established, state bodies meet national and democratic principles were established. The Azerbaijan Democratic Republic wrote a great history within 23 months. If that republic was not formed at that time, the situation might have been different today. The ADR was occupied by the Soviet-Bolshevik Empire. The occupation lasted for 70 years, but it did not prevent the sense of independence of our people. As a result, at the end of the last century our state independence was restored. Today, Azerbaijan is a strong state and has a say in the world. The foundation of all this was laid in the period of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.

Leyla Valiyeva, the chief fund guard-scientific worker, made a speech on the theme "The First Democratic Republic of the East - the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic" and said that the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic established by the "Declaration of Independence" restored the ancient statehood traditions of our people, and led to the maintenance of human rights and freedom, and the cancellation of racial, national, religious, class and other inequalities and paved the way for democracy. It was stressed that the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, the first parliamentary republic in the history of the Azerbaijani people, was the first democratic, legal and secular state in the East, including the Turkish-Islamic world. The Azerbaijan Democratic Republic did not fall behind the traditional democratic republics of Europe because of its political structure, democratic state building measures, as well as its goals and objectives.
