On April 20, the 112th anniversary of the launch of the "Molla Nasraddin" magazine was celebrated at the House Museum of Jalil Mammadguluzadeh in Nakhchivan.
Kamala Tahirova, the acting director of the House Museum of Jalil Mammadguluzadeh, made an opening speech at the event, and said that the magazine "Molla Nasraddin", which is the herald of progressive ideas, entered the history of the Azerbaijani press forever. The magazine and the editor began to work under the name of "Molla Nasraddin" and it was due to their commitment to the ancient and rich national folk literary traditions and Eastern coloring. Jalil Mammadguluzadeh recalled the need for satirical comedy in that current situation: Time and nature created "Molla Nasraddin" itself.
Doctor of Philology, Honored Scientist of the Azerbaijan Republic, Professor Huseyn Hashimli spoke about "The great writer of Azerbaijani literature" and noted that Jalil Mammadguluzadeh had a special place in our literary history with both his literary and social activities. There was not more or less important theme for the outstanding writer. Jalil Mammadguluzadeh, the great master of word, used the satire as the sharpest weapon. In his creativity, comedy was very colorful, meaningful and interesting.
It was noted that the narratives, dramas, stories and newspaper satires of Jalil Mammadguluzadeh were included in the gold fund of our literature with their compactness and theme relevance. The magazine "Molla Nasraddin", its editor is the great writer, gained a reputation as an exemplary magazine in the public opinion history of our people.
Director of the Memorial Museum of Jalil Mammadguzadeh in Nehram village, Honored Culture Worker of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Akif Hajiyev made a speech on "How Molla Nasraddin was created?", talked about the difficult and controversial period when the magazine was created, and said that at that time the struggle of ideology in the press world was going on. "Molla Nasraddin" magazine went ahead in the struggle for freedom and bright future of the people.
Honored artist of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Ali Safarli spoke about the meaningful and vivid cartoons of artists such as O.Shmerling, I.Rotter, A.Azimzadeh, and noted in his speech on "Artists of Molla Nasraddin" that the magazine created a great schooling in this field too.
The students of the Nakhchivan Girls' Lyceum presented the composition based on the stories and newspaper satires of Jalil Mammadguluzadeh to the participants of the event.
At the end of the event the exhibition "Molla Nasraddin -112" was viewed.
