The contest “The most delicious Nakhchivan confectionery”

Head of the apparatus of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of  Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Gulbuta Babayeva opened the event holding at Nakhchivan Tourism Information Center. She mentioned that in the autonomous republic, significant work has been done to study and promote the culture of culinary, which is one of the oldest branches of folklore. The “Nakhchivan Cuisine” Culinary Center created by the Order of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of  Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated April 9, 2009, is one of the first centers in the country to promote this field. 

It was emphasized that such measures are being carried out regularly to introduce our national kitchen samples which are going to be forgotten to the future generations concerning to our ancient culture. “Nakhchivan cuisine” book, published in Azerbaijani and English in 2012, with the attention and care of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis is a rare source of study and promote the ancient and rich history of culinary culture of our region.

Director of the “Nakhchivan Cuisine” Culinary Center Turkay Safarzadeh said that after the Decree of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of  Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic “On holding Folk  Days  in   Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic” dated February 7, 2009, important measures have been taken in this direction.

It was noted that “The most delicious Nakhchivan confectionery”  is held for the first time in   Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic competition. The participants presented various sweets of Nakhchivan cuisine. Pakhlava, shakarbura, shakarchorak, qovut, sweet kete, nabat, crumbled cookie were prepared for the contest.

It was noted that according to the decision of the jury, Shovkat Ahmedova was awarded the first place for the eyirdek, the ancient confectionary of Kangarli region,   Aynur Salahova from Sharur region was awarded the second place  for Ordubad pakhlava,   Hajar Musayeva from Babak was awarded the third place for pastry with walnuts. The winners were presented diplomas and presents.

The event was continued with the performances of Folk Instruments Ensemble of Nakhchivan State Children’s Philharmony.
