The 25th anniversary of the creation of the first national military unit in Nakhchivan was celebrated, a military parade was held

On October 18, on the day of State Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan marked the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the first national military unit in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of  Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov and Defense Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov attended the event.

Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan- Commander of the Army Commander-in-Chief, Lieutenant-General Karam Mustafayev reported to the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis on preparation for the event.

The Chairman of the Supreme Majlis greeted the soldiers.

The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was performed.

Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of  Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov said that the Independence Day was marked with the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the first national military unit in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, congratulated the participants of the event on the occasion of significant holiday, as well as staffs of the army, mergers and parts of Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the autonomous republic of Azerbaijan and the population of the autonomous republic, and said: The wise men measured the power of the states by the power of their armies. The Italian philosopher and thinker, Nikolo Machiavelli, pointed out in his famous “Ruler” work that “in all states the basis of power is good laws and good armies”.

The Chairman of the Supreme Majlis said: The national leader, during both of his leadership in Azerbaijan, paid attention to the issues of state and army building, and made urgent measures in the field of army building. After the declaration of independence in our country, this independence was instituted in September 1991 with the establishment of the first national army structure in Nakhchivan. At that time, the national leader, who worked as the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of  Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, made decisions on the strengthening and protection of the borders of the autonomous republic, thereby providing unified leadership for national military units and voluntary groups. On September 15, 1992 the first national army unit in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic – 705 enhanced motorized brigade  was established. 25 years ago – on October 9, 1992 nationanal leader Heydar Aliyev said in the first military parade in Nakhchivan: “We used to participate in the festivities of the former Soviet Union’s Armed Forces every year for over 70 years. But today’s celebration is a great pride in our hearts. We are in great joy. Because the Azerbaijani people have finally created their national army to defend their state, their nation, their native land”.

It was noted that in 1993, our national leader, returning to the political power with the insistent demand of the people, defined the army building as the main direction of the state policy, the Armed Forces passed a significant organization and development path. The measuresof the national leader in the field of army building are being successfully continued by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev today. Due to the attention and care of the country’s leadership, our army’s fighting capability has increased in recent years, its material and technical base has been strengthened, and the social and living conditions of the military men have been improved. At present, the Azerbaijani army, equipped with modern techniques, has high discipline and fighting ability. The Supreme Commander-in-Chief also pays special attention to strengthening Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic’s defense capacity. Based on the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated December 18, 2013, the foundation of the Detached Combined Arms Army  on the basis of the 5th Army Corps in Nakhchivan is the continuation of measures taken by the national leader Heydar Aliyev to safeguard Nakhchivan. 

The Chairman of the Supreme Majlis said: Today, the logistical support of the Detached Combined Arms Army is constantly strengthened, the fighting capability of the staff, moral and psychological training is enhanced. Over the last 25 years purposeful measures have been taken to secure the protection of the autonomous republic, 214 objects of different military significance have been put into operation. The launch of a new Training Center on the eve of the jubilee day is a continuation of the work done in the field of army building. The Chairman of the Supreme Majlis expressed his respect and esteem to the sister state Turkey, the people and the Armed Forces for the strengthening of the defense potential of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan and disinterested help the Republic of Turkey for the formation of the military units here.

Later, the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis addresed the staff: Today, you have important tasks in front of you. We know that you are constantly striving to honor the name of honorable soldier and officer, you demonstrate loyalty to the homeland, national leader Heydar Aliyev. The active strategic position of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic will further increase the responsibility you have. Today, the unity of the Armed Forces in the military units of the autonomous republic, patriotism and high fighting spirit guarantees the full protection of our lands. People live comfortably, expand their farms and contribute to the development of the autonomous republic, relying on army mergers and acquisitions in the autonomous republic. The Chairman of the Supreme Majlis congratulated the participants and staff on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the first national military unit in Nakhchivan, with certainty that the duties of Detached Combined Arms Army  will continue professionally and finished his speech with the views of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Mr. Ilham Aliyev: “Today, the people of Azerbaijan are united around a common goal- we must further strengthen our country, strengthen our independence, and increase the strength of our army so that we can restore our territorial integrity”.

Commander of the Detached Combined Arms Army, Lieutenant-General Karam Mustafayev said at the event that all conditions for the organization of military service at the today’s level were created in the autonomous republic. The logistical base of the Detached Combined Arms Army has been strengthened, the army is equipped with the most modern weapons, and the Detached Air Force military unit has been established. All the military units in the autonomous republic, in particular the battlefields located on the defensive base, have been substantially rebuilt, and the necessary conditions have been created for the exemplary organization of the service. The implemented complex measures have resulted in the increase in the fighting capability and moral-psychological training of servicemen.

Defense Minister of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov said that army building measures, founded by national leader Heydar Aliyev, are successfully being continued by Supreme Commander-in-Chief Mr. Ilham Aliyev today. The reliable organization of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic defense is one of the main directions of the army building measures undertaken in our country. Establishment of the Detached Combined Arms Army in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and its modernization with modern weapons, fighting equipment, aviation and air defense facilities is an integral part of the work done in this area. Today, the  Detached Combined Arms Army is capable of carrying out any fighting missions. Zakir Hasanov congratulated the staff on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the first national military unit in Nakhchivan.

Then a military parade dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the first national military unit in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic was held. 

At the military parade participated about 2,000 staff of  the Detached Combined Arms Army of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic,   more than 160 units of military equipment and weapons, including more than 10 fighting helicopters and planes. Thousands of residents of the autonomous republics watched the military parade.

First of all, the cadets of Military Lyceum named after Heydar Aliyev under the state flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan appeared in the parade. Today Military  Lyceum named after  Heydar Aliyev has become a prestigious military educational institution. All kinds of teaching facilities have been created for future officers. The graduaters of the lyceum serve with dignity in different sections of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, and preserve the honor of the ancient military traditions of Nakhchivan.

The sections of mechanical, motorized, special-purpose, intelligence, mountain-throwers, tanks, reactive artillery, air defense and communication of the  Detached Combined Arms Army, the staff of “Nakhchivan” Detached Operation Brigade of the Interior Troops,  “Nakhchivan”  Detached Border Division, the personnel of the Civil Defense Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic passed through the stands with regular steps.

Then the passage of military equipment took place.

Following the flag of the Detached Combined Arms Army, the “Gred Vul” cars equipped with anti-tank “SPAYK” rocket complexes, “Shtorm-3” Sofa machine, “Cobra” light armored carrier, “Sandkat” cars with large machine guns  appeared. “Marauder” armored combat vehicles, produced in Azerbaijan and exhibited at international exhibitions, “Orbiter-3B” unmanned aerial vehicles passed through the stands. Later, the “Lancher” Reactive artillery complex, which is distinguished for its high maneuverable battles in the mountainous area, “Sani” mortars, various branded artillery installations on cars, anti-tank gun “D-44” and “MT-12” cannon, “D-30” howitzer, “D-20” and “M-46” cannon howitzer, “Giasint-B” cannons with a distance of up to 35 kilometers were demonstrated.

At the military parade, the “BM-21 Grad”, “Qrad-LAR”, “Sakarya”, “Gasirga” firefly reactive systems, “Smerj”control range and “OSA”, “S-125” anti-aircraft missile complexes, armored carrier “BTR-82A”, pedestrian fighting vehicles 2 and 3, self-propelled anti-tank “Khrizantema” complex, “T-72 M1” and “T-90C” tanks, equipped with modern detection, tracking and firefighting equipment, as well as “TOS-1A” reactive system built on T-90C tank and self-propelled artillery “Gvozdika” continued the parade. The colonel of weapons and equipments of the Detached Combined Arms Army was completed with the demonstration of “ZQ-23-2” zenith facilities.

The “Mi-17-1V”  military helicopter waved the Azerbaijani flag, “SU-25” fighter planes, “MI-17-1V” and “MI-35M” helicopters occupied the sky in different fight positions. Thus, the military parade ended.

The military parade dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the first national military unit in Nakhchivan on the Independence Day demonstrated once again the strength and power of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in the autonomous republic.
