An event dedicated to the National Flag Day of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic was held at Nakhchivan State Flag Museum on November 16. Opening speech was made by Gulbuta Babayeva, Head of the Office of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and she said that the flag of Azerbaijan, the glorious embodiment of our morality, our free and independent national idea, was raised on the initiative and leadership of our nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic 26 years ago, on November 17, 1990. This day is considered the day of our triumphal flag's eternal return to our history of statehood.

It was noted that, after the restoration of our independence, our national attributes were greatly appreciated in our country. Formation of national love for our tricolor flag, which is the bearer of our independence, statehood and national values, forms the basis of the Heydar Aliyev’s political path. As a result of the successful continuation of this road, Flag Square was established in 2007 in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. The Day of the State Flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan, established by the Order of Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan signed on November 17, 2009, on the day of adoption of the flag of Azerbaijan for the first time as the National Flag of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic is the sign of state-level attention and respect to our sacred flag, our historical past and our moral and political values, and historic statehood traditions formed in Nakhchivan.

According to the Decree of the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated November 17, 2014, "On the National Flag of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic", November 17 is celebrated as the National Flag Day of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

Our tricolor symbolizes the independence of our country, the national identity, history and spiritual world of our people. Each citizen of Azerbaijan respects our flag and accepts it as his\her sacred duty. The Azerbaijani soldier swears the flag while taking over the high mission of protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country. Today, people of the ancient city celebrate the National Flag Day of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and proud of our tricolor flag, which forever confirms the signature of the Azerbaijani state and people all over the world.

Then Nizami Rahimov, the director of the Nakhchivan State History Museum, Honored Culture Worker of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, gived a speech on "Our flag is our source of pride", and Abasat Nuriyev, the Director of the House Museum of Jamshid Nakhchivansky, spoke on "The flag of our independence and statehood".

Today, the Azerbaijani flag has become a symbol of the statehood of Azerbaijan by waving over the building of the world's leading organization and embassies and representations of Azerbaijan in more than 150 countries. Each of our citizens is confident and proud of the future of our statehood before the sacred spirit of the Azerbaijani flag.
