The 100th anniversary of Gara Garayev was celebrated at Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Library named after M.S.Ordubadi

On February 14,  Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Library named after Mammad Said Ordubadi hosted a literary-musical night dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the People's Artist of the USSR, composer and educator Gara Garayev.

The event was opened by the headof the library, PhD on History Aytekin Gahramanova.

In the literary part of the event, Naila Asadova, head music-note department of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Library named after M.S.Ordubadi delivered a speech on the topic "Gara Garayev summit", and Yegana Rustamova, head of  mass work department of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Library named after M.S.Ordubadi on "Synthesis of East and West in Gara Garayev’s music".

The speeches reported that Garayev's name is permanent and dear to the people of Azerbaijan. There is not a single corner of Azerbaijan, so that everybody should not be aware of the musician's genius, his "Seven beauties", "Path of thunder " ballets, and "Leyli and Majnun" symphonic poems. Gara Garayev is an composer who is constantly loved and made people  think by his works because he always took power from his land, benefited from our national music, such as mugam, ashug music and folk songs. The legacy of the mighty composer is extremely wide and rich. It can be seen in its various genres and colorful themes that he applied.  It is possible to say that G.Garayev worked with all the genres in the same enthusiasm and created new works that are distinguished by his novelty and artistic high level. The composer's ballets, symphonic poem, symphonies, camera-instrumental works, his music composed for film and   theater performances included the golden fund of our music culture, once again confirm this.

As we have noted, the creativity of the composer was very rich and colorful in terms of the subject. The creativity of poets and writers of the different times, folk legends involved him. High ideals of Gara Garayev dedicated to most important subjects, sharp conflicts of life, his ballets which praise the richness and beauty of human morality are full of true humanism spirit. The composer who composed his works with lyrical feelings, impresses the inner world of his heroes with astonishing skill. The composer's ballets are considered to be a new stage in the development of ballet art in Azerbaijan. In his works, the composer created realistic musical - choreographic drama. One of the most important pages in the development of Azerbaijani symphonic and camera-instrumental music is connected with G.Garayev's name. His works written in this genre are performed by symphonic orchestras from different countries.

In the artistic part, head of hall of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Library named after M.Ordubadi recited the poem "You live in the hearts" by Markaz Gajar, dedicated to the memory of the great composer.

At the end of the event a slide was shown on the electronic board, composer's works were played and an exhibition called "Gara Garayev-100" was viewed.
