At the event held on this occasion at the Exhibition Hall named after Bahruz Kangarli of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Artists’ Union, the minister of culture and tourism of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Natavan Gadimova stated that on the basis of the Decree of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Mr. Vasif Talibov dated February 1, 2018, “On marking the 110^th anniversary of the outstanding artist Shamil Gaziyev”, the anniversary of the outstanding artist is celebrated at a high level in the autonomous republic. In the events plan approved on the basis of the Decree it is planned to organize the exhibition consisting of the works of Shamil Gaziyev at the Exhibition Hall named after Bahruz Kangarli, to hold a scientific conference, to conduct research work related to the creativity of the artist, to conduct master classes at children’s art schools dedicated to the works of the artist on Nakhchivan theme and to organize other events. Holding of these events on the anniversary of the outstanding painter is still continued and the jubilee exhibition is one of such events dedicated to the artist.

It was noted Shamil Gaziyev was born in Yerevan, the ancient Azerbaijan city, in the family of educationist Hasan bey Gaziyev on March 30, 1908. Shamil Gaziyev had a very interesting and rich life path. He gave artistic design and clothing sketch of over 120 works performed on the stage of Nakhchivan State Musical Drama Theater and Ordubad State Drama Theater, created very original, valuable works of art on different genres and subjects. Although our artists create many paintings on our native land today, Shamil Gaziyev's works reflecting the ancient household life, ethnographic features and history of our country will always be interesting and valuable to us.

It was noted that Shamil Gaziyev had services in the field of preparing young artists. The national leader Heydar Aliyev attended his painting circle in his young ages and loved this art. It was stressed that the creativity of the prominent artist had been appreciated in Nakhchivan when he was alive. Honorary title "Honored Art Worker of Nakhchivan ASSR", established in the 40s of the last century, was given to Shamil Gaziyev for the first time in 1944.  His private exhibition was organized in Nakhchivan city in 1978. Under the patronage and care of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, in 2010, the album-catalog, which included 56 works of the artist, was prepared and published in Nakhchivan, and presentation ceremony was held. High-level marking of Shamil Gaziyev's 110th jubilee will play a very important role in research and promotion of the life and creativity of the outstanding artist.

The chairman of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Artists’ Union Ulviyya Hamzayeva and art critic Nizami Aliyev spoke about the life and creativity of the artist at the event. It was noted that the outstanding artist created various works on etude, still life, portrait, landscape, graphic genres. Shamil Gaziyev's paintings reflecting Nakhchivan's daily life and ancient history are valuable in the term of the development of this genre in fine arts.

Then Natella Gaziyeva,   daughter of the outstanding artist, made a speech noting that there is great state care to science, education, culture in Nakhchivan, the jubilees of the prominent figures are marked on a high level. The Decree on holding the 110^th anniversary of Shamil Gaziyev signed by the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic made the Gaziyevs’ family happy. This is a high assessment to Shamil Gaziyev's personality and creativity, but also to the art, cultural history and spiritual heritage of the autonomous republic as a whole. Natella Gaziyeva expressed gratitude to those who contributed to organizing the exhibition.

Then the exhibition consisting of the works of Shamil Gaziyev was viewed. The works “In thrashing-floor”, “The old mill”, “The old market”, “Bakers”, “Harvest”, “Madrasa” and other works caused great interest.
