The presentation of old manuscripts and books was held

On April 3, Manuscripts Fund of Nakhchivan Branch of ANAS was presented ancient manuscripts and books by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

It should be noted that the ancient manuscripts and books were presented to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism by Nehram village resident, Honored Culture Worker of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Akif Hajiyev, residents of Ordubad region Zuleykha Jafarova, Nazila Bagirova and Shabnam Rustamli.

Opening the event, academician Ismayil Hajiyev, chairman of Nakhchivan Branch of ANAS, said that the branch also deals with the discovery of material and cultural samples, along with scientific researches. In the Manuscripts Fund which was established in 2005, there are more than 400 ancient manuscripts and books. These manuscripts belong to different fields of science in  Azerbaijani, Arabic, Turkish, Persian and other languages. As it is known,  manuscripts and books spread and scattered in the various geographical areas of the Islamic world throughout centuries. In the creation of this book culture, all the Muslim nations have a share.  The books and manuscripts were the existence and forms of development of Islamic peoples. These precious examples are presented to different museums according to their profiles, others are kept in the branch in order to investigate.

The academician said that some citizens are indifferent to presenting ancient items and books, sometimes they do not think about their scientific value because they can not read them. Such rare objects, books and manuscripts must be submitted to science and cultural institutions so that they can be properly investigated and promoted. Material and cultural examples reflecting the great history of our people are provided with the necessary protection in these institutions and provide additional information about the period in which they belong. Since 2016, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic has presented ancient manuscripts and books to the Manuscripts Fund several times.  The academician thanked the people who collected the ancient manuscripts and books and presented them to the Manuscripts Fund.

The minister of culture and tourism of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Natavan Gadimova made a speech at the event and noted that today cultural institutions of Nakhchivan preserve many cultural and historical samples, reflecting the history, lifestyle and traditions of our people. The ministry attaches great importance to the collection of material and cultural samples for our museums, and the residents of the autonomous republic are closely involved in this work. In 2017, museums of the autonomous republic received 1340 new exhibits. Within the 3 months of this year the museums have been presented more than 400 exhibits.

It was stressed that the ministry held presentation of the exhibits presented to the museums. These events will continue in the future. Ancient manuscripts and books play an important role in creating a complete picture of the process of development of Azerbaijani culture and science history. These books and manuscripts, on the one hand, allow us to look at the path of our ancient book culture, on the other hand, to help our scholars search for new sources. The collection of these books also means the creation of a rich fund of history of books.

Among these books, especially those related to Islamic culture and science, are of particular interest. Studying and collecting the rich heritage of the past, as well as studying the socio-political history of the Azerbaijani people, the study of the attitude of the spiritual culture and cultures of separate geographies is also valuable in terms of discovering new sources of artistic-aesthetic, philosophical thinking of our people.

It was noted that the manuscript books are pearls of human intelligence, their voice comes from the depths of centuries. These rare copies tell the contemporary reader about the past. Each manuscript book draws the attention of scientists and researchers.

At the end of the speech, the Minister thanked the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan on behalf of the participants for his care and attention to culture and science in our ancient land.

Director of the Manuscripts Fund of Nakhchivan Branch of ANAS, doctor of philological sciences Farman Khalilov informed about this scientific institution and stated that the oldest manuscript here dates back to the late 15th and early 16th century. The oldest book in the fund belongs to 1824. Farman Khalilov expressed his gratitude for the books and said that historical books are the national resources of our people. Preserving and exploring them, preparing them for publication and publishing editions that are of interest to the general public, preserving for coming generations should become every citizen's duty.

Honored worker of culture of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Akif Hajiyev, Ordubad region resident Zuleykha Jafarova who presented books to the museum spoke about care and attention to culture and science in the autonomous republic. In their speeches it was stated that  people who work in the field of culture and tourism will continue to gather examples of material and spiritual culture. Cultural workers who expressed gratitude to the Autonomous Republic leadership on behalf of the people working in this field noted that the preservation of the material and cultural samples represents the protection of the history and past of our people and its preservation for future.

Then they viewed the books presented to Nakhchivan Branch of ANAS.
