An excursion to Ordubad city with the participation of tourism volunteers organized

According to the pedestrian route program of Ordubad city excursion was organized for the participants of the “Tourism volunteer” project in December 8, 2020.

Before the excursion, Suleyman Rustamov, Leading Adviser of the Statistics and Certification Sector of the Tourism Department of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, said that according to the Decree of Chairman of the Supreme Majlis  of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic “On supporting innovations and additional measures for giving voluntary assistance to the specialties in higher and secondary education institutions by relevant organizations ” dated April 3, 2019, the specialty of “Tourism and hotel management” of Nakhchivan State and “Nakhchivan” Universities were given voluntary assistance by the Tourism Department of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Different events are regularly held, students are provided to undergo a period of training in both the Department and institutions subordinated to the Department, as well as in hotels and tourism companies in Nakhchivan, excursions are organized to museums and historical monuments by the Department in order to improve professional training of students who are studying this profession and to form them as experienced staff.

In accordance with the program of the pedestrian route, made up to get acquainted with the rich tourism potential of Ordubad, the history of the region, its unique values, prominent personalities, the volunteers first visited the Ordubad Region History and Ethnography Museum. Volunteers were given extensive information about the Museum and the unique material and cultural samples here. It was noted that the museum is located XVII century monument “Geysariyye” building. "Geysariyye" is one of the unique historical and architectural monuments in the world. There are a total of 4000 exhibits in the fund of museum and most of them are displayed in 15 corners of the exhibition hall.

A visit to the House Museum of academician Yusif Mammadaliyev aroused great interest among students. It was noted that, the scientist’s house was established in 1975 on the initiative of Heydar Aliyev. According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated February 28, 2005, the 100^th anniversary of Yusif Mammadaliyev was celebrated at the state level in our country, the house museum of the prominent scientist in Ordubad city has been reconstructed. There are 2000 exhibits related to different periods of the academician’s life and activity, his published works, photographs, as well as memorial pictures.

Excursion participants also visited the House Museum of Mahammad Taghi Sidgi, the outstanding educator, enlightener and poet. It was noted that according to the Decree of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated September 17, 2014, the museum was established. The building of the museum is two-storey. The exhibition hall is located on the second floor of the building. Selections of Sidgi’s wise words, the photographs reflecting different periods of his life, as well as members of family, his friends and prominent personalities who were his students are also displayed in the hall.

The students also visited the House Museum of Mammad Said Ordubadi. Ordubadi is known as a master writer and public figure of his period. The museum was established in 1972 on the occasion of the 100^th anniversary of the writer. The museum, which was restored in 2010, features more than 700 exhibits, including photographs depicting the life and work of Mammad Said Ordubadi, portraits, samples of memoirs from different years in different languages, letters and manuscripts, and photographs of prominent figures who were the writer’s associates.

According to the program the volunteers got acquainted with Ordubad bath-house, Ordubad ice-house, Sarshahar square and Juma Mosque in the city of Ordubad, and they were given detailed information about these facilities.

During the excursion, the rules of organizing an excursion were visually demonstrated, and the questions of the participants were answered.
