On April 8-10, an info-tour was organized by “Nagshijahan Holding” in the frame of “Let’s know and introduce Nakhchivan” project in order to promote the tourism potential of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. In the frame of info-tour more than 200 owners and tourism men from 12 countries and over 120 different tourism companies of Azerbaijan visited Nakhchivan.
On the first day of their visit, a meeting was held with the participation of “Nagshijahan Holding”, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, as well as representatives of local tourism companies at “Duzdagh” hotel.
Then the guests participated at “Kata” festival held at “Nakhchivangala” Historical-Architectural Complex. They listened to interesting songs and tasted different katas (flat pie with greens) cooked there.
Then they visited “Alinjagala” historical monument and museum located in Julfa region. The participants of the info-tour were informed that Alinjagala historical monument and “Alinjagala” Historical-Cultural Museum was restored on the basis of the Decree of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated February 11, 2014. The restoration of Alinjagala historical monument is of great importance to hand down centuries old history of our people the next generations and introduce it all over the world.
In the ancient Nakhchivan region, great attention is paid to the preservation and promotion of national and spiritual values, folklore, traditions, including national cuisine. Holding national culinary days that have already become a tradition, introducing these delicacies decorating our tables, handing down them the next generations is crucial.
Interest in two days' "Kata" festival which started on April 7 at the Historical-Architectural Museum Complex "Nakhchivangala" was great. 23 public catering facilities and 130 individuals participated in the festival. City residents and guests enjoyed and got the opportunity to watch the preparation of various kinds of kata (flat pie with greens) and taste them.
On the last day of the festival, the results of the competition in the nomination "The most delicious kata" were announced. According to the appearance, variety and taste of the products selected by the jury, the winner of the festival, the second and third places are elected. Mirgasim Eminov from Sharur region won the first place, Aygun Mahmudova from Shahbuz region, Nazila Allahverdiyeva, the employee of "Bullur" public catering facility, were the second, Rahila Jalilova from Babak region and Pakiza Ismayilova from Kangarli region were the third place in the competition "The most delicious kata". The winners were awarded diplomas and the book "Nakhchivan cuisine".
Ruslan Guliyev, President of the Association for Support to Health and Thermal Tourism, was elected as president of the Global Healthcare Travel Council (GHTC).
An election meeting of the international organization organized as a part of the exhibition "Hestourex" (Health, Sports and Alternative Tourism) in Antalya. 48 representatives from 22 countries participated in the voting.
The election of the president and six vice-presidents of the Council was announced at the meeting. Azerbaijan has taken over the presidency of the Council from the United Arab Emirates. At the same time, member of the Board of Directors of the Association for Support to Health and Thermal Tourism Jeyhun Ashurov was elected as Deputy Secretary General of the GHTC.
Addressing the meeting, Ruslan Guliyev highlighted Azerbaijan's health tourism potential and prospects, and provided an insight into the organization’s platform.
The Decree of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated February 7, 2009 “On holding folk days in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic” has created a comprehensive condition to preserve and promote our national and spiritual values in the autonomous republic. As a result of this state care, in recent years, systematic study, development and promotion of the table culture, which is considered to be one of the oldest branches of folk creativity, is carried out consistently. “Plov”, “Nakhchivan bread”, “Beekeeping products – honey”, “Plum” festivals held at the highest level heretofore, reflected not only rich cuisine, table traditions of the autonomous region, but also attracted mass interest in these events.
“Kata” festival which started on April 7 at “Nakhchivangala” Historical-Architectural Museum Complex and will run two days, is an important event to demonstrate and promote the preparation manner of different types of katas belonging to the cities and regions of the autonomous republic. Nakhchivangala, which connects the nostalgia atmosphere of our historical past with the richness of our national cuisine, witnessed "Kata" festival for the second time. At the crowded festival which coincides with Saturday and Sunday, the sunny weather enabled the residents of the autonomous republic to participate in the event. As always, festival participants from the districts of the autonomous republic have taken their place in the sections arranged for them at the museum complex. At the same time, the organization of public catering services was at a high level.
The services of the Sharur Folk Yalli Ensemble have always been highly appreciated in promoting our Yalli outside our homeland. The performances of the ensemble in different countries - Hungary, Russia, Germany and Poland have been highlighted in this regard. The visits of the folklore collective to the brother Republic of Turkey have become a tradition. The ensemble has repeatedly represented our country at the events held in Iskenderun, Bayburt, Istanbul, Van, Aghri and other cities of the brother country. The folklore collective has participated in a series of events held recently in Turkey.
We talked with director of the ensemble, Honored Culture Worker of the Republic of Azerbaijan Kimya Babayeva to ask her impressions about the trip. She said this visit was related to the official opening ceremony of the city of Kastamonu as the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2018 and Novruz holiday festivities organized by the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY). To represent our country in such an event increase our responsibility, and we are proud of being among the collectives that came from different geographies of the Turkic world and 18 countries in general. Azerbaijan was represented by Sharur Folk Yalli Ensemble and "Halay" folklore collective of Masalli in the concert program.
