The participants of the International Drawing Festival got acquainted with the historical monuments of the autonomous republic

The IV International Drawing Festival "Nakhchivan - Cradle of Humanity" dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the national leader Heydar Aliyev is being held in Nakhchivan. 63 artists from 14 countries will take part in the festival organized by the Knowledge Foundation under the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the Ministry of Culture and Artists' Union.

On May 22, the guests first visited the monument to the national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev in the main square of Nakhchivan, laid flowers at the monument and acquainted with the Heydar Aliyev Museum.

The festival participants visited the Nakhchivan State Carpet Museum and they were told that there are more than 3,000 exhibits there. Fleecy carpets and carpets without pile, various handicrafts, embroidery, knitting tools, copper and earthenware things are exhibited at the permanent exposition of the museum.

As a result of care and attention to the activities of museums, important work is being done in our ancient land to create new museums, these cultural institutions are built on the new achievements of museology, remain in the history as a successful measure in the life of society.

Museum in the Open Air was established in Ajami Space in the city of Nakhchivan on the basis of the Decree of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated June 11, 2002.

Nazakat Asadova, the head of “Khan Palace” State Historical-Architectural, Momina Khatin and in the Open Air Museum Complex, Honored culture worker of the Republic of Azerbaijan informed us about this cultural institution. She stated that the main aim in the establishment of the museum is to protect, study and propagate material and cultural examples reflecting mythological and religious views of our people. For the first time, the museum began to function with 80 exhibits, but now there are more than 400 exhibits being exhibited. Here are exhibited 226 ram statues, stone inscriptions, gravestones, column bottoms, various stone figures, gravestone sandugas and household items related to mythological and religious outlook. Millstone, stones used for construction, pestle stone, stone pots were widely used in the life of our people. The zoomorphic monuments exposed in the exposition are the monuments of natural processes.

It has become a traditional case to hold festivals in different directions in the autonomous republic. As the innovation of the recent years, the festivals held in order to develop agriculture, to extend promotion of products grown in the autonomous republic, which one of them is “Goyja” festival. What are the main factors related to the organization of the festival of this valuable fruit? In this regard, we talked with Asgar Hasanov, department head of the Ministry of Agriculture of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. He noted that Nakhchivan is historically a land of agricultural development and is distinguished by its unique tradition of gardening and climate diversity. Sources said that gardening is more than 3500 years old in this ancient land. The favorable soil and climatic conditions of the autonomous republic allow the cultivation of high-quality fruits with excellent flavor and delicacy.

It is noted in the writings of historian travelers who lived in the XV century, that the tasty and delicious fruit varieties in Nakhchivan are nowhere in the world. The fruits grown here are fresh and dry, and in addition to the domestic market, they find themselves buyers in foreign countries.

Since the beginning of the XIX century fruit-growing entered a wide phase in this ancient land. The establishment of conservation plants for the processing of fruit-vegetable products in the 70-80s of the last century caused to begin a new development stage in fruit-growing.

In recent years, special attention is paid to the development of fruit-growing as profitable field. On the basis of the “State Program on the development of fruit-growing and vegetable growing in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in 2012-2015” adopted by the Decree of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated February 14, 2012, purposeful measures have been carried out. Producers have been granted soft loans for the establishment of fruit gardens and refrigerated warehouses for storing fruit products have been built and put into operation. The “State Program on the development of fruit-growing and vegetable growing in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in 2016-2020” adopted by the Decree of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, envisages the implementation of a broader measures in this direction. During the past period a lot of work has been done in this field, new fruit gardens have been established. At that time superiority was given to local and productive sorts, as well as sorts planted by folk selectionists which are going to be forgotten.

The presentation of the book "Ancient and Modern Nakhchivan", published with the support of the company "HUAWEI Technologies Co.LTD" of the People's Republic of China was held on May 18.

Rovshan Mammadov, Minister of Communications and New Technologies of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, said that by the initiative of the "Huawei" Company of China in November last year, after concluding an agreement on publishing a book on Nakhchivan, a working group consisting of specialists from "Huawei Azerbaijan" Limited Liability Company and the Ministry of Communications and New Technologies of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic was established. As a result, the book "Ancient and Modern Nakhchivan" was presented today. The book gives detailed information about Nakhchivan's historical monuments, tourism potential, culture and art, science and education, economy and agriculture. The book, published in Azerbaijani and English, is composed of 8 chapters and it is for a wide range of readers.
