Novruz festivity was organized in the “Turkic world” settlement located in the Topkapi district of Istanbul.
Turkic-speaking countries, as well as Turkic-speaking peoples who have cultural autonomy in different countries, were represented at the festival.
After burning Novruz bonfire, the celebration continued with artistic program.
The Azerbaijani corner was organized here by our Consulate General in Istanbul.
Istanbul governor Vasip Shahin, chairman of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Movlud Uysal and other officials visited the Azerbaijani corner and congratulated people here.

The Azerbaijani people have created a system of rich values by summarizing their ideas on the creation of man and the awakening of nature in Novruz holiday. Novruz Holiday is a sign of deep respect for our historical and cultural past, deep commitment to our national values. That is why, our great leader Heydar Aliyev took care of the existence of the Novruz traditions in all periods of his leadership, who made this holiday a symbol of our national existence and our independent statehood. As the President of the country, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, congratulated our people on the occasion of Novruz holiday and said: "The Novruz holiday, which has ancient historical roots in the land of Azerbaijan, penetrated deep into the deepest of our spiritual world, contributed to the development of our sacred values and became an integral part of our national thinking ... Novruz holiday which became the expression of our freedom and independence, is a national identity factor that created a foundation for the realization of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and the return of our people to the idea of independent statehood towards the end of the XX century”.
Participants of the educative tour-campaign "Let’s discover our country" were closely acquainted with historical and cultural monuments located in Nakhchivan on March 18.
Tour-campaign participants who visited "Nakhchivangala" Historical-Architectural Museum Complex were informed about the historical objects discovered in the territory of the autonomous republic. It was noted that, the pitcher belonging to the V millenium B.C, various household items belonging to the V-III millennium B.C, ceramic products from the Bronze Age and Early Iron Age, copper tools, gravestones, and weapons were valuable exhibits. The 5,000-year-old city culture of Nakhchivan made great interest. The tomb of Prophet Noah, next to the complex, also tells of the ancient history of the our land.
The schoolchildren who visited Nakhchivan Business Center were informed about the achievements of the autonomous republic in the economic sphere. It was noted that there are 192 kinds and 1258 varieties of 94 enterprises and 112 variety products of 17 types produced in 37 households, 254 handmade artworks by 30 artisans, paintings, carpets and map of production facilities of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
An event dedicated to the "International poetry day" was held at Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Library named after Mammad Said Ordubadi.
Rashad Khudiyev, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, said that in 1999 at UNESCO's 30th meeting the March 21 was announced as the "International Poetry Day" and it had been celebrated since 2007 in Azerbaijan.
Rashad Khudiyev noted that poems and prose works written in recent years show that the modern development and ancient history of Nakhchivan, great construction work, the beauty of our ancient land were praised by our poets and writers.
Chairman of the Writers' Union of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, honored culture worker of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Asim Aliyev made a speech on "Our literature yesterday and today" and noted that the history of Azerbaijani poetry dated back to ancient times. In the twentieth century, our literature was enriched with poetry samples of our outstanding writers and poets Huseyn Javid, Mirza Alakbar Sabir, Samad Vurghun, Aliagha Vahid, Mammad Araz and others.
The participants of the "Let's discover our country" tour-campaign visited Shahbuz region of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on March 17.
Firstly, the pupils got acquainted with the "Farma Shah" Limited Liability Company were informed that the enterprise, established on April 27, 2009, has been fully operating since 2010. The enterprise located in Shahbuz city produces packed medical herbs, teas and bakmaz. The equipments were imported from China, Iran and Germany.
The pupils interested in the study of dynamics and physics of celestial bodies in the Batabat Astrophysics Observatory were closely acquainted with the observatory.
The acquaintance with the Shahbuz State Nature Reserve started at the museum there. Schoolchildren were informed about the exhibits of flora and fauna in the reserve area. There are 2899 plant species in the reserve, many of them are iris species in different colors and smell, the Eastern tulips spreading in the mountains, fragrant wild carnations, orchids, paradoxical iris and others are endemic.
