The decree on the construction of a carpet-making workshop in Nakhchivan will lead to the development of this ancient folk art
On the basis of the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev dated February 15, 2018, “On measures for the construction, supply and infrastructure of the carpet-making workshop in Nakhchivan”, the carpet production workshop will create favorable conditions for Nakhchivan carpet-makers, and this tradition from the past to today will be granted longevity. The launch of such a workshop will contribute to the creation of new jobs as well as the generation of new carpet-makers. Most importantly, our homes will be decorated with the finest, exquisite Nakhchivan carpets.
As a result of archaeological excavations in the ancient settlement called “Kultapa” a spinning wheel and spindle belonging to the Neolithic and Eneolithic Periods, simple weaving machine belonging to the Bronze Age prove that the people living in the Nakhchivan region were busy with weaving in ancient times. Carpeting, which turned into an independent field of activity from early medieval times, became one of the main occupations of Azerbaijani women in later periods. Sources belonging to the X-XIII centuries characterize Nakhchivan as the main carpet weaving center along with many regions of Azerbaijan.
On February 16, a methodical course on solfeggio, music literature and choirs is conducted for teachers of children's music schools subordinated to the Culture and Tourism Department of Sharur region at Sharur City Children's Art School named after B.Kangarli.
The main purpose of conducting these courses is to enrich the pupils' outlook. The acquaintance of the students with general and Azerbaijani music literature plays an important role in the formation and comprehensive development of musical education in them. The methodical courses upgrade the level of teachers' knowledge and direct those who teach this subject. Teachers have also been given detailed information about the solfeggio and music literature.
Then, Nuray Huseynova, teacher of Children's Music School No. 3 named after S.Rajabov, conducted a methodical lesson on “Teaching of solfeggio in the five and seven year’s education system”. She noted that during the teaching process of solfeggio in music schools, the students should be able to set up the order of Azerbaijani modes, to form the capability of hearing the Azerbaijani modes along with the major-minor system and folk musical samples should be cited in various intonation goals.
On February 16, the performance prepared on the basis of Abdurrahim bey Hagverdiyev’s “The unlucky young man” play by Babek Region Folk Theatre was presented to the public at Julfa Region Culture House.
“The unlucky young man” tragedy which depicts the life of the prominent writer partly, is of interest to create a positive hero, to show his struggle in life, and thus to express his desires and wishes.
Farhad, the main hero in the performance (actor Rasim Gasimov) is a vigilant intellectual of his time though he was grown up in property. He finished his education in the city and returned his village with the feelings innovation, enlightenment, nationalism towards the stoned landowner attitude. But he is very poor to carry out these ideas. Farhad’s fate ended unlucky. It should be noted that the first suicide in Azerbaijan dramaturgy happens in “The unlucky young man” play. Farhad hurts himself and dies in the prison hospital. Although the hero of the performance dies, his ideas live. The dark sides of his environment have a role in his death.
On February 16, the 100th anniversary of world-famous composer Gara Garayev was celebrated at the Nakhchivan State Musical Drama Theater named after Jalil Mammadguluzade.
Natavan Gadimova, the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic said at the event that in February 2018, it was the 100th anniversary of the prominent representative of Azerbaijani culture, great composer, People's Artist of the USSR, Hero of Socialist Labor, USSR and Azerbaijan State Prize laureate, academician Gara Garayev. On October 17, 2017, President Ilham Aliyev signed an Order on "100th anniversary of outstanding Azerbaijani composer Gara Garayev". According to the order, the jubilee of the outstanding composer is celebrated in our country with various cultural events.
It was stated that "The Seven Beauties" based on the same-name poem by great Nizami Ganjavi, "The Path of Thunder" ballet based on the same-name novel of South African writer Peter Abrahams, "Elegance" mono-opera on the basis of the novel of French writer Henri Barbusse, "I loved you" and "On the hills of Georgia" romances composed to Alexander Pushkin's poems, "Heart's Song", "Song of happiness" cantatas, and "Cilghin Qaskoniyali" musical on the basis of "Sirano de Berjerac" comedy by French actor Edmond Rostand, and other works will always be remembered and loved.
On February 14, Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Library named after Mammad Said Ordubadi hosted a literary-musical night dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the People's Artist of the USSR, composer and educator Gara Garayev.
The event was opened by the headof the library, PhD on History Aytekin Gahramanova.
In the literary part of the event, Naila Asadova, head music-note department of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Library named after M.S.Ordubadi delivered a speech on the topic "Gara Garayev summit", and Yegana Rustamova, head of mass work department of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Library named after M.S.Ordubadi on "Synthesis of East and West in Gara Garayev’s music".
